Im not a pro reviewer and this is just my take.

I imported the pencilvac from Japan, which arrived a few days ago.

I live in a 1 bedroom 890sq ft apartment and have an iRobot that vacuums and mops everyday so the pencilvac complements it nicely.

TLDR: I think if youre already tidy, and dont have much clutter. This is perfect for you, especially since it looks and feels premium. This is like the iPhone of vacuum cleaners, and youll want to be sure not to bruise it if that makes sense.

Now if you deal with a lot of clutter, have pets that shed a lot, have rugs/carpet flooring, occasionally need to vacuum your car, have kids and an overall hectic life, I think youre better off with other Dyson vacuums.

My biggest downsides are battery life and build quality. I had the V8 since 2015, and the pencilvac is not only weaker in suction (55 air watts vs 115 air watts), it runs out of battery faster too (25 mins eco mode, 20 medium and 10 boost).

The small crevice tools are great, but really awkward to use with the long stick. For instance, when using the V8 to vacuum sofa, I can really dig into and brush the couch surface since its a trigger vacuum. This is a long stick vacuum and its awkward to do the same.

Id say I can vacuum floor faster with the pencilvac than I do the V8 because the way the fluffycones swivel allows me to vacuum all around me without having to reposition myself. However, when it comes to detail vacuuming (couches, window sills etc) this is a bit of a chore to use, and the low battery life especially isnt helpful. I have more confidence in my v8 for heavy duty cleaning.

Also the docking station is really really light, and you have to be extra careful when removing the vacuum since itd magnetically attsched or you could risk accidentally dropping the vacuum and attachments (which you want to avoid since this is pricey).

And whatever this is made of, it chips easily. I havent hard dropped my vacuum, and suddenly noticed a sharp paint chip near the battery screen. I have no idea how that happened.
