If you have hard floors / tile that you Swiffer or mop ( or If you have aspirations of doing so ) then having the option to clean the floors with the submarine head essentially doubles the utility of your vacuum. I clean the floors weekly with my v15. My floor plan is ~1300 sq feet fifty-fifty carpet and hard flooring. I’m able to dust, vacuum, and mop the whole floorplan on one charge in around 20 minutes. I empty the vacuum once, add a bit more water, and dump the water from the catch basin. The Gen5 has a more powerful motor , has a larger dust bin and is heavier. The button on top does help out. Though you’re probably sacrificing a bit of battery life since It’s more likely the vacuum will be left running when moving between rooms or other times where your finger would be off the trigger. Though both vacuums will tire your wrist and you will end up switching arms once or twice. That’s the bigger ergonomic problem. The extra dusting brush, gap tool, and extension hose that come with the Gen5 look really useful( especially the hose) but can be purchased after the fact for the v15, while it’s not possible to use the submarine attachment on the Gen5. I borrowed a friend’s Gen5 before deciding on getting my v15. I got the v15 on the hope that I would use the mopping attachment frequently which thankfully I was able to build the habit to use.  I have high pile carpet and rugs, so for both the Gen5 and v15 I had to vacuum those with the gates fully open and ensure I don’t press the head down too forcefully otherwise the brush motor stalled. The Gen5 did this more often than the v15, which I would attribute to the added power. I’m still shocked by the amount of dust picked up each week haha.
