Am I right in saying that the day/night distinction is reflected in the N-prefix in the numbers. That is, a 26 will always be a day bus, the N always a night bus? More on reddit.com

How do bus tickets work?
If you buy a Single ticket, it is valid for one journey only on regular Lothian Buses - whether that's one stop or the whole of a route, it doesn't matter. A single ticket is always the same price wherever you're going across Edinburgh, with the exception of going to or near the airport which costs more. The next option is a Day ticket. This is a ticket that you can reuse throughout the day, which is probably what you've seen people do. There's two variations of this: one bought through in the morning or afternoon works until about midnight; and a Late ticket bought after 6pm is slightly cheaper but also works on the night buses after midnight (routes starting with an N). There's also a Network Day ticket; similar to above but includes the airport and the out-of-Edinburgh destinations which are serviced by Lothian Country and East Coast Buses. Nowadays you can use your contactless card. This will normally charge you a Single each time, but if you use the buses a lot it will cap at the price of a Day ticket as long as you use the same card. (It will also cap at a weekly rate of about 4.5 day tickets, this isn't a specific ticket you could buy though.) This is similar to how contactless on the London Underground works. Here's the current pricing information: https://www.lothianbuses.com/tickets/ (All this assumes you're using Lothian Buses. There are also First Buses McGills (thanks u/originalwombat ), a different company, but I never need to use those.) More on reddit.com

Why does the Bus to Edinburgh City/Airport go through Eurocentral?
I used to work at Europark and quite alot of people used the stop every day. Pre covid sonot sure if the offices are mostly WFH now. Also it's used by people coming from ggow who work around Bellshill area and get picked up from there. More on reddit.com

r/Edinburgh on Reddit: public transport tickets
June 5, 2024 -

Hi! I am going to Edinburgh next week and am trying to prepare. But I really can't make sense of the ticket system for the public transport.

First of all, am I supposed to use the m-tickets app or the Bus & tram app?

Secondly, if I want to travel unlimitedly on buses and trams for an entire day (like 8am to 11pm), does the Adult DAYticket cover evenings as well? Or do I have to buy an Adult LATEticket also? On the bus&tram app it says "until end of day services" but it also says "valid until 01:00 the next day". In my native language "day" can mean either 6am to 6pm, or 12am to 11.59pm so I don't know how to interpret this lol

PS. I have sent an email to the Tram customer service but they did not answer my questions properly

Edit: I am planning to use both the Lothian buses and the Tram, only in the city zone

Edinburgh public transit - Rick Steves Travel Forum
August 21, 2023 - Probably the best one for anyone arriving and departing by air is a 5 day city and Airport Zones ticket for £22.00. Any tram ticket can be bought from the machines or the staff on duty at the airport tram stop. That is cheaper than buying integrated bus and tram daily tickets at £12 each day, as the weekly bus cap is also £22.
