TIL that Edinburgh’s Old Town has underground streets where people used to live
I took a tour of Mary King’s Close when I visited Scotland last year. It was fascinating and a little creepy, but not as creepy as the ghost tour of the Blair Street Vaults. I also found an awesome horror/spooky-themed pub that’s partially built into those same vaults and uses one of them as a cinema where they screen free horror movies. More on reddit.com

Are there any entrances to the Edinburgh vaults that arent tours?
Yes, a few years back I ended up going to a party in a student flat in Niddry St. On either the first or second floor above Bannermans, standard Edinburgh flat except one thing...there were two of the arches/ vaults which were connected to the flat itself and could only be accessed through that flat. I wouldn't have believed it if someone had told me. One vault was being used as a dance floor & the other a shisha lounge. More on reddit.com
