This is my midway point when I bike back home from work, I always always always stop at the Rose Garden. I love that entire area. FYI the benches surrounding the Rose Garden are from the 1984 Olympics. Btw, for the first time ever I noticed that the giant orange external tank of the Endeavour is right outside the Science Center... has it always been there? Are there plans to display it vertically? How bad are you willing to deal with? The area is pretty rough, but it depends on what you're comfortable living around. Crimemapping will give you a rough idea of the crimes committed in the area and their frequency. I guess it depends on your priorities, but it definitely is not the safest neighborhood in LA.
