Thatโs not useful. You use like so:

Python f-strings Are More Powerful Than You Might Think
Here's the original source for this article in case anyone wants to read this but hits the Medium.com paywall. Personally, while I agree that there's a lot of power and utility here, I think excessive use of f-strings descends pretty quickly into code that's tough to read at best. I'd rather construct each individual piece of the puzzle in other variables and use a single f-string to combine them into one. "Explicit is better than implicit" and "Readability counts." Hello i am a very very beginner coder. Iโm in a beginner python class and I feel like the text books just throws stuff at concepts. Why are fโstrings important? If Iโm understanding it right I feel like the same output could get accomplished in a different way.

F strings are just a nice way to insert variables into a template string. Yes, there are other ways - but f strings are usually the best. What way would you use instead?

They're a clean and readable way to put variables in a string. The important part is readable, since unreadable code is bad code.

July 11, 2021 - The original formatting using the % sign has existed in Python ever since version 1.x (and even before that in C, which is where this feature's inspiration comes from). It allowed you to do most string formatting very easily, even though the syntax was a bit unusual: it uses % flags in your string, which get replaced by the values you pass in. Here's an example:

Formatted string literals (also called f-strings for short) let you include the value of Python expressions inside a string by prefixing the string with f or F and writing expressions as {expression}. An optional format specifier can follow the expression. This allows greater control over how the value is formatted. The following example rounds pi to three places after the decimal:

November 30, 2024 - Note that the number of objects in the tuple must match the number of format specifiers in the string: ... >>> name = "Jane" >>> age = 25 >>> "Hello, %s! You're %s years old." % (name, age) 'Hello, Jane! You're 25 years old.' In this example, you use a tuple of values as the right-hand operand to %. Note that youโve used a string and an integer. Because you use the %s specifier, Python converts both objects to strings.

The โuโ prefix was added to Python 3.3 in PEP 414 as a means to ease source compatibility with Python 2.7. Because Python 2.7 will never support f-strings, there is nothing to be gained by being able to combine the โfโ prefix with โuโ. Here are some examples from Python source code that currently use str.format(), and how they would look with f-strings.
