Oh and make sure to use a proper cardreader when transferring files.
I have a Gen 2 X3, and got the same issue after transferring a bunch of songs through USB cable connected to the front panel. Formatted the card and got a cheap ass cardreader to plug in to the motherboard USBs, no issues since then.

October 10, 2013Fiio X3 (1st gen) appreciation
Not sure if this is against the rules but I wanted to post my now 11 year old FiiO X3 (first gen) here. Went through a lot with it and still works great. The day it finally gives out my next device will again be something from FiiO, this thing has been rock solid and reliable. The battery especially has surprisingly held up well, it's still on its original one even though it has been used a lot. It even went through a rough 2 year period as a dedicated headphone DAC/AMP on my laptop when I was working abroad. Best money I've ever spent along with the Sennheiser PX100 (now 21 year old) they've been driving. More on reddit.com
