So, looking for ideas on how to mount this unit above my tv. There’s no extra bracketry or mounting hardware available. It seems to assume you’ve got wall studs 24inches on center. My house is 16. This will not hang safely with anchor mounts into my plaster walls.
In order to keep it flush the wall, should I craft up a wooden backing plate that I can affix to the 4 aluminum brackets, where I can then screw the backing plate to my studs after I’ve found the exact position in the wall I want it?
Thanks in advance if you know of a better pre fabricated aluminum strip or bracketry!
Hello,
I'd like to turn the Besta Burs Ikea TV stand into a floating TV stand.
It weighs around 130 pounds (~60 kg).
Any idea what would be the best way of solidly hanging it to the wall?
I was thinking about maybe using some sort of shelf brackets like the guy on this video.
Another solution would be to use a horizontal 'hanging rail' as seen on this other video. From what I've found so far, it seems that most stands that are actually designed to be hanged use this system. But then, most of these stands aren't this heavy...
I have a solid wall.
What do you guys think? What would be the best way of going about doing this?
Thank you.
Would love to see some pictures of your floating TV stand from IKEA! Just trying to get some ideas of what it looks like in real people's homes, not just the catalog. Anything would be appreciated 😉😉😉

If properly supported, would it be possible to use an ikea tv stand (or 2 in a row) as a wall length wet bar, with stone countertop installed? Would the drawers and doors be the same quality as their kitchen cabinet drawers? This would save me a ton of money and work...
TL;DR: I wouldn't recommend trying.
Nothing we carry, inc SEKTION & BESTÅ, can safely support the weight of a stone top if you're attempting a floating unit, ie no legs. If you used three BESTÅ support feet, which sit in the middle of the unit and so aren't visible, you might be able to get away with it. But the unit will only sit a few inches off the ground.
SEKTION doesn't have a support like that. With stone tops, feet are required.
However, you're using it as a wet bar, so it's not just the stone top with which you need to be concerned; you're also storing bottles and glassware.
Assuming you're replacing the BESTÅ top with the stone top, you'll need a way to secure the top safely. There's nothing in the frame to accommodate an alternate top.
I don't think the BESTA is a good idea for a heavy stone top, but you could use Sektion kitchen cabinets
For both BESTA and Sektion you can buy doors / drawers from 3rd party companies
