I always think of cocktail attire as being similarish to high school homecoming dress attire, but I guess that could vary based on region. I think of it as shorter dresses up to around the knee are acceptable, but I think longer dresses that aren't ball gowns could totally fit the bill. Of the dresses you linked, I'd probably avoid the champaign colored one (very pretty, but some might say it's too close to white), and the shorter one with the slit (but that's just me thinking weddings aren't the place for potential clothing mishaps). If someone says they want summery, it just means colors and fabrics that are appropriate for summer. So like a burgundy velvet dress is not a great option. It sounds like they’d love people to wear florals and there are plenty of floral dresses out there that fit the bill.

Look for something midi length or knee length. Steer clear of something that could be seen as a clubbing dress.
