r/Frugal on Reddit: Is there any websites that let's us compare the price of a product from shopping websites across the world?
October 6, 2024 -

Hi, I'm trying to buy a Tablet. One hack that I use to buy electronics at a deal is to search the price of the product across shopping websites in different countries and buy from the cheapest option. Somtimes thy deliver to my country, and if they don't deliver, I will try to get through some friends who are travelling there or living there. I have international friends in almost all majors countries.

Long story short: I find having to go through all these websites a little tedious. Is there any single website that let's us do this?

The countries that I'm interested in are: GCC, Europen Union, Norway, Switzerland and UK, US and Canada.

Thank for any suggestions.

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a site called CompareNook, which helps U.S. shoppers compare prices across Amazon, Walmart, and eBay. The goal is to make it easier to find the best deals and save time while shopping.

I’d love to hear your feedback on the site or any suggestions for improvement. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Here’s the link: CompareNook

Thanks in advance!

Hi all!

Moving into my own place soon and I need a LOT of stuff. I’ve got a spreadsheet and like 4 Amazon wish lists going but it’s getting really tedious to look up every item on 4+ sites to check the price, especially when trying to watch for price drops. I’m of course also using the buy/sell/trade sites but that’s kinda separate.

My main question is what recommendations do you have for price comparison sites and apps? Also do you have any that track prices on multiple sites and notify you of a price drop?

Appreciate the help!

What people fail to mention is price comparison website, like Portugal's kuantokusta.pt (it does include amazon but you can choose to not buy from there)
They are the most real alternative to amazon, since it will find the best prices. Google Products search also does this a bit. You can then choose to buy from a european store, and most likely cheaper than amazon :)

When you find something on amazon, you can also check the seller name and if it's not Amazon, you can buy from the seller store directly. Especially Brands! Plus you get better support without a "middle man".
You'll not only be buying from EU store, but hopefully from a national store :)

Hi friends, do you have any recommendations for websites that will automatically do price comparisons across companies for generic items? I'm thinking kind of like Basket for groceries, except for (in this case) office supplies. I can got to walmart's/amazon's/office depot's websites individually, but I'm hoping there's a faster way

Hi, sometimes I use Google shopping to do a price comparison for a given item across multiple sites,

I noticed Amazon was missing from these results and read that the model is now pay to participate per Google, unlike back in the Froogle days.

Is there a more comprehensive shopping comparison site that you all know about and use?

There used to be good apps like Shopsaavy, but that one changed its business model sometime ago and became inaccurate so I stopped using it.

RedLaser used to be good as well, but then eBay bought it and subsequently shut it down..

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Caveat: OP, sorry if the following is no longer beneficial as I see it's been some time since you posted. However, in the case you never found info of worth and for anyone who searches and upon your thread, as I just did, I submit the following.

I too used Shopsavvy almost exclusively but as it's usefulness faded and, as I became more aware of other variabilities in price comparison that makes it a little more difficult to simply scan to get the best price, I don't use one tool anymore but many.

For the scope of this thread, I'm going to simplify what I've found down to just "on the go" mobile app tools and not getting into cash back from certain credit cards which can factor into this; having a credit card, with a 60 day price protection tool will make you a little more sane about this process which can result in anything but especially when you wander hours later from the "rabbit hole" from a simple purchase with only a few dollars saved or, what's frequently the case for me, not having bought it at all lol (•‿•).

I first will use Shopsavvy because it includes many stores plus by scanning the UPC , it provides extra information about the exact model which can come in useful later. If it's a larger purchase and the results from Shopsavvy seem off, then I'll search the Slickdeals forum app. If there seems to be very little posts or none that show any dramatic price differences, I'll search Amazon (not necessarily the best price but I prefer to buy from them because I rarely go to stores to shop so it's that much harder for me to make returns in which case Amazon's self shipping returns makes it preferable to me).

While Amazon is certainly not the guaranteed cheapest price in the game as they once were (especially pre internet sales tax days), they are very competitive and will often change the prices on their website to reflect other big websites' prices like Newegg or Walmart within a few hours of the difference being posted.

One of the best reasons to use Amazon as a price comparison tool, is not in the direct sense as one would typically approach these apps. It's due to a secondary service that using Amazon gives you access to, CamelCamelCamel.

This website is by far one of the richest sources of price information and seeing trends and the flux of prices over sometimes 3 years. The price changes will often tell you enough as to whether it's a "good enough" or if you can wait and do better. While CamelCamelCamel.com is not technically an app nor has an official app, although you could use Hermit Lite or one of the other app cloners and make the website your own semi custom app, there's altetnatives to make this whole insane thing that we put our selves through a little more quick to wit I personally use TryCamel.

Essentially, once you install it, you will have it as an option under the share Amazon link and it will do the rest for you.

Finally, for larger purchases or something you have a little more time to explore, eBay's advanced search for completed/sold auctions is one of the best, free, long standing little known tools for buying decisions.

r/amazonprime on Reddit: If Shopping on Amazon, Check Out These Websites to Compare and Track Prices and Weed Out Fake/Paid Reviews
June 21, 2021 -

Since Amazon’s Prime Day starts today, I thought I should make this post for those that may not have heard of some great services that help prospective customers get the best items for the best possible price. Everything I’m going to mention is free and available through their websites, internet browser extensions, and apps so you can use them on any device you’re shopping on. These services work on Amazon but some also work on other retailers like Walmart so they aren’t strictly for Amazon shopping.

First, everyone always wants to know if they’re getting a good deal or if the sale isn’t actually good at all. There are services that will track and compare prices on sites like Amazon over periods of time and the two popular ones are Camel Camel Camel (aka The Camelizer) and Keepa. You can check the price over different periods of time and even set alerts to email you when an item hits whatever price you set. Camel Camel Camel and Keepa are great for helping to determine if an item is actually on sale or if it’s basically the same as its usual price. I personally use both CCC and Keepa together to find the best prices and times to buy items.

Second, everyone who buys on Amazon should be made aware of the sites/apps that scan reviews and give the prospective customer an accurate review score. Two that come to mind are FakeSpot and Review Meta. Both of these services are free and they both have a website, an app, and a browser extension so you can use them on any device that you’re shopping on. FakeSpot and ReviewMeta both scan reviews and look for reviews that don’t seem genuine or seem like they may have been placed by bots, scammers, etc., and then give the customer a more accurate review rating, without the fake or paid reviews. Both services’ websites contain links to their apps (available on both Apple and Android) and their browser extensions (available for all popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari). Some shady sellers use bots or pay for positive reviews to boost their review score and sell more items. I personally use the browser extensions when shopping on my computer and the apps when shopping on my phone.

I use all these services myself to find the best deals and hope they help others out there save money and get the best items possible. If you know anyone who is a regular Amazon shopper, please let them know about these services. If anyone has any other tips or advice to add, please comment below. Happy shopping!

(Note: I do not work for nor am I compensated by any of the companies/services mentioned and there are no referral links in this post. I receive no benefit from posting this. I just wanted to help others save money.)

I’m thinking of making a page that does price comparisons of similar products(mostly items I’m affiliated with). I currently use GeneratePress as my website theme. These products won’t have API available and will come from lesser known sites. Can someone point me in the right direction of free plugins, if possible, that I can dig into?

If you have any other tips and tricks or general guidance to help me with this, that would also be appreciated.

Hello Frugaleers, I'm curious as to what price comparison apps and websites people use. Also, why? I mean, of course, you use them to compare prices but is there another reason? Like easy to use or consistently better than the others? Also, has anyone ever heard of comprigo? Is it okay or crap?

Hello, i would like to ask you which are the best websites in Germany that compare prices from every online website that offering consumer electronics. For example in Greece that, i am from, we have 2 websites bestprice.gr & bestprice.gr that business owners are adding their businesses and you can compare prices from small retail shops and find the best price.

This is an example from Best Price: https://www.bestprice.gr/item/2159404542/apple-macbook-air-13-2024.html

Do you have something like this in German? If yes can you provide me those websites? I know that Amazon.de is a leader in the market. Furthermore, can you provide me some famous websites with Laptops?

I have been searching grocery and personal care prices item by item to compare Kroger to Meijer (this are my only real options). Has anyone found a quicker way they would be willing to share? I could go to Aldi as well. I have looked at some apps to download but most seem pretty sketchy about info gathering or what they actually do. Having to keep typing to meet the 300 character limit so please pardon the run on sentence.
