I'm wondering if it makes sense to buy one of these full length mirrors with led lights around the perimeter or to buy a full length mirror https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/nissedal-mirror-white-30503778/#content and attach a smart LED strip around the perimeter?
Has anyone had experience with this? Any light strip recommendations?

I have done the 2nd hacky way. Much more cheaper but clearly doesn't look as good as the one that comes with inbuilt LEDs. Cheap LEDs do not diffuse. If you buy the leds that diffuse, then I'm not sure it's worth the saving. You'll have a bit of wire hanging out from front no matter what you do. You can minimize but it's not going to be as good as this. It's almost impossible to make them look like one piece. It'll always look less classy. But at half the price, it's worth it for me IMO.

If you are using the toggle switch just to turn it off then you could come up with a solution. Sonoff S31 with Tasmota. Connect it to your home automation hub, monitor the current draw. When the current draw exceeds 0W then start a timer that does two things. 1. Start another 3 second timer, and 2 turn the plug off. After the 3 second timer expires, turn the plug back on. This way the home can keep the mirror from being left on, and the user always has the same experience, they don't need to pull out their phone to turn the mirror on, then touch it to get it to light up.
