For software related issues, Geek SQuad can see what's going on with it locally (Viruses, OS Repair, data back up, etc.) These services do not come included with the unit so you'll have to get Total Tech Support for any serious software issues.

As for hardware repairs(cracked screen, power issues), we will have to send it out to our repair center in Louisville, Kentucky in which can take up to two weeks, possibly more. All of this is covered under the geek squad protection plan if purchased with the unit, but does not cover data backup

HIGHLY RECOMMEND backing up your data before giving it to geek squad. If anything I missed or is incorrect, please let me know. :)

For reference, this version has the extended/newer battery compared to the V1 Switch that released in 2017, but does not have the OLED screen nor the Ethernet dock

Interesting. I'd be curious to read the terms & conditions for this Accidental Damage from Handling coverage. You mentioned it ran roughly 50/60% of your total cost -- depending on how much you bought your entry-level drone for (guessing sub $200), then it was probably worth it. However, if you had walked out with a Phantom 4 Pro ($1500), you'd be paying roughly $750-$900 for insurance?? If this is the case, there are much better options for coverage for more expensive drones. (i.e. DJI)
