Can I post a hacking tool I made to Github?
GitHub repo with thousands of ethical hacking and Cybersecurity references
This should be pinned
More on reddit.comFireEye has been hacked, and their red team tools stolen. They've released the detection/countermeasures on their GitHub!
What are some lesser known 'hacking tools'...?
Havent had a chance to test it too much but there was some interest in the Printer Exploitation Toolkit (https://github.com/RUB-NDS/PRET) . Might be worth a look.
More on reddit.comEdit: Learnt a lot from the comments. This is not a vulnerability or exploit. Its abusing a legitimate app for illegitimate purposes. So, should I post this? I guess someone can learn something.
"Hacking Tool" in the title might be an overstatement.
But basically I found a way to exploit a legitimate app with a legitimate use. And as of now, antivirus does not flag the file in any way. The only security is the firewall which blocks the outgoing traffic (its similar to a reverse shell). But an ignorant user might simply click allow.
So my question is, Can I post this tool on GitHub? Will I get in legal trouble?
I'd love to make a post here to talk about it and explain the whole process but I really am worried about the legalities. It is for educational purposes of course.
Thanks.
