Yes, you can buy a domain and configure it to end emails from Google Workspace. If you wanted you can also migrate email to your new account using Google's data migration service, but I wouldn't suggest it unless you have something like [email protected] set up. Keep in mind you can't make [email protected] and alias for [email protected] so you'd need to set up email forwarding for your old account. I suggest also adding an auto-response saying that your email has been changed so please update their records. When it comes to collaborating on Docs, it depends on which account you're logged into. You can log into multiple accounts in Gmail by clicking in your logo in the top right. Same goes for Drive. I suggest creating a Chrome Profile for business and another to personal use so you don't get them mixed up. More on reddit.com

I went through the steps of setting up a business email and first I registered a domain, but then after setting it all I was prompted to start a business account for something like $26 a month. I just started the free trial but am I signed up for something I don't need? I also only need one user for this email but my company is a few people. I literally only need email with the work domain

I pay $6.20 per month for a business email. I’m on the second from the cheapest plan. Sounds like you’re paying too much. They force you to trial the high end edition but you can change it in the Admin Console. I pay about $14 / year for my domain, a little less since I bought it for 2 years.
