I love the Pixel Camera experience and when I have tried others like a S22Ultra I regretted it.
I just want a better modem now and was intrigued by the new modem in the 9 series. The Pixel 8 Pro I have is a great device and the only things about the P9P that interest me are the updated modem and possibly some perceptible camera improvements. As an enthusiast I'm willing to spend a little more to be an early adopter for the latest and greatest.
I can accept some price increases but what pisses me off are the laughable trade-in values here in Canada vs the USA. I've been following various posts here on what folks are getting at the Google Store and Best Buy compared to what we can get here and trade-ins are roughly at about half here, give or take. It has been this way for a while on trade-ins here in Canada, but the base price increases on the 9 series just makes it more glaring.
I'll wait for the reviews and user experiences to see if this is a worthy upgrade for me or not and if it is, then I'll wait for the price-drops later in the fall and to see what carriers do on monthly financing.
I'm feeling salty about this because I do like the latest tech as an enthusiast but I don't appreciate being treated so differently here in Canada vs the USA on the cost to upgrade. So while I was initially excited to try this device and pay a bit of a premium as an early-adopter, the disparity on trade-ins just sours this release for me big-time.

Also Canadian, when the 8 Pro came out last year I just waited until Boxing Day sales and got it from my carrier for 60% off.

The difference is USA vs the rest of the world, it's not just Canadians. We in Australia get $850 AUD for a Pixel 8 Pro, $750 for an s24 ultra and $1000 for an iPhone 15 pro max. The 9 pro xl starts at $1849.

August 15, 2024Will Canadian providers be getting the "Google Pixel 9 Pro " (specifically the pro ONLY part) ?
We called Rogers yesterday and they placed an order to 2 Pixel 9 Pros from a Kitchener store. We walked in last night at 5 pm to grab them and the manager brought our order out and it was 1x Pixel 9 Pro XL. We explained that was incorrect and called Rogers back on the spot. He was super helpful. He called other locations and found 2 Pixel 9 Pros at the Fairview mall and the person on the phone from Rogers said "We do not have or stock the 9 Pro" and the manager kept saying, well I'm on the phone with them and they have 2 in the mall location and long story short, Rogers on the phone said they cannot sell them to us, and the the Rogers Store manager called his supplier rep and he said the 9 Pro is not out in Canada until October 24th. So there's that lol. So we are waiting, even though we already got our new cases delivered from the Google Store lol. Ps: I asked him if (since our order was wrong) they maybe got a shipment of XL's and received them as 9 Pro's and he said it's impossible, so no idea why Fairview mall shows 2 phones they claim aren't even in Canada yet lol More on reddit.com
