The original King George had prior obligations in another broadway show for which he was nominated for a Tony. But Groff took inspiration from his portrayal and ran with it. Not sure about George Washington though. You can read about it in the book- “Hamilton: The Revolution.”I am currently reading it and it’s fantastic. More on reddit.com

Good to see someone out there is fighting the good fight for all the white people who never got cast in all those other musicals for the past few decades. It's not like white characters have never been the "default" cast for majority of TV, movies and theatre for the past century. No sir. Yeah, I love Groff and I think he's a fantastic singer, but he is clearly practiced at the over-the-top stage things, not for the HD focus of the cameras! I'll listen to him any day but the video is not my favourite thing.

Does anyone know why Isaiah Johnson and Brian d'Arcy were replaced on the run-up to Broadway?
Johnson has since gone on to tour with Hamilton, and Groff regularly refers to d'Arcy in glowing terms so it seems to have been amicable, but it's remarkable to me that these parts were cut when so much of the rest of the early cast stayed consistent.
