Nearby, I an old fashioned ink well surrounded by gold coins was a perfect way to represent Gringotts Wizarding Bank. A major element of the party was Honeydukes, the kids' favorite stop at the end of the party. I decorated a Candy Shoppe cardboard stand with Honeydukes signs and filled it with lots of Honeydukes-inspired candy.

August 9, 2025 - Taking OWL examinations at a Harry Potter Party, free printable included! I got these fun quill pens to make taking the OWLs a little more fun. But don’t let the name fool you, they are not gel pens, just regular pens. OWL examinations, have the kids work in groups to make it a bit more fun · The last thing on the agenda was to head inside to the Great Hall for a feast. More about that under Food. I had SO much fun with the decorations for this.

August 12, 2025 - To end the festivities, we decorated black kraft paper bags with gold lightening bolts (thank you, gold Sharpie!) and filled them with a few goodies. And in hindsight, we probably should have warned people about the boxes of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans we placed inside. OOOOPS. The favor bags also contained wands, and the kids put their Harry Potter glasses, Daily Prophets and crafts from the party inside so they left with a full bag.

Mind you, most of this was DIYing, so you’ll need to take time to do most of these things. ... We spent a bit more on a customized stamp and wax because we know we would get more uses out it after this DIY like for our business or sending letters to family and friends. Write Harry Potter’s address on the letters, but replace with your guests’ names to give it a personal touch!

January 21, 2024 - For the winners prizes for this game and the Harry Potter bingo I managed to find bags of lightning strike gummy sweets in Poundland which were perfect! I set up the table in our dining area to look like a banquet table in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. This was complete with candelabra centrepiece (borrowed from my parents) and witches hats for the kids to wear while they ate. The food was a normal party buffet of sandwiches, chicken nuggets, nibbles, fruit, etc.

Once they’re sorted give them a house scarf to help them identify which house they’re in · The wands I made out of chopsticks, hot glue and spray paint and had fun labeling each of them with their different “cores”. The brooms are all “firebolts” and looked the same. But it made for a fun activity for them to be sorted and do their “shopping” as guests arrived. And it doubles as great decorations as they walked into the house.
