I’m in the US and have similar numbers to you. My pcp missed my slightly elevated TSH (3.5ish) but when I went to my gyn to chat about menstrual irregularities, she caught it, and since I was gearing up to try to have a baby and my T4 was on the low end of normal, she put me on 25 mg of levothyroxine. If you’re a woman, you might have more luck going through that route.

I was a normal kid. Very hyper at times. It all slowed down one day starting at age 9 or 10, I would wear my winter coat into the heated class cause I was cold, I nearly doubled my weight in fat in 2.5yrs and bloated up. Went all the way until I was 14 and got diagnosed after my mom suspected it because both of my parents have it. Got medication but didnt understand it and it didnt work for my schedule so I wasnt serious about it. At my worst weight I weighed nearly 270 lbs, at my worst flare up I was recorded sleeping for 32 hours straight. Now I have just started avoiding gluten and taking my medicine as I should. Hoping things work out for the best. 250 lbs rn, hoping to shed more off as time goes on and my levels normal out. Done letting this happen to me and I want to be normal and lead a normal life More on reddit.com

Yes, ask for a thyroid peroxidase antibody test, that will show if it's autoimmune (Hashimotos) or not. Hypothyroidism doesn't always equal Hashimotos and basically it's whether or not you'll be on levothyroxine (or other thyroid meds) for life or if there's something else causing it. That determines how you treat it, so it is important.
