Yes. HE is superior. Even if TMR surpasses HE in the next year the difference between a hypothetical top tier 2026-2027 TMR board and a current top tier HE board is almost certainly going to be extremely minimal. We are already approaching micrometers level of theoretical precision and latency that is largely limited by windows' polling rate. Unless you require nanometer levels of precision for a specific use case I doubt TMR is going to be extremely beneficial. Answer from TripleShines on reddit.com

r/keyboards on Reddit: he VS tmr

I’ve been using a not-so-good mechanical keyboard for quite a long time and now i think about upgrading to something better. Womier sk75 tmr suits my budget and overall preferences, however i’ve heard that tmr is not really a big deal compared to he so i guess it’s possible to find a board better for me. Should I just buy the tmr board or think more about he? Can you guys suggest something ($100–$150 65% or 75% good for gaming and also i don’t care about wired or wireless)?

r/Dualsense on Reddit: Hall effect vs TMR; What is the real difference for a normal player?
September 21, 2025 -

After suffering severe stick drift in my 2 PS5 controllers (bought at release) I've installed in one controller some TMR sticks and in the another some Hall effect sticks.

I've been reading about how TMR is much better, more accurate and more power efficient than Hall effects.
I believe all of this to be true when you put them into a measuring rig or if you are a world class competitive player (which I'm absolutely NOT).
For me the power usage point is irrelevant because I predict power usage by the force resistance in the L2/R2 and the vibration system will reduce this to a negligible percentage.

Having played with both for a while (mostly Death Stranding 2) I have not been able to notice any difference between the two.
Given the price difference (I paid about 10 euro per stick for the TMR and about 2 euro for the Hall effect) I really wonder why to use TMR.

So what are the differences a normal casual player should notice (which I haven't yet)?
Perhaps I've been playing the "wrong game" (DS2) to notice the difference and it is noticeable if you play really fast game like Fornite or something like that?

What am I missing?

Ohw prepare to be bombarded with comments about TMR being the best thing since sliced bread. I have been saying exactly this for a while now. 99% of normal gamers will never experience any difference. The biggest difference is in the tension and linearity of the stick. I install both hall and tmr and I use tmr since they use less lower and the cheap ones are practically the same price. But most people want aknes X halpi tmr since these are the most to the original alps and they come with pretty decent thumb caps.

There is almost no difference between the two sensors except how they detect magnetic field changes. Ive installed plenty of both, nobody has ever complained once the sticks are upgraded. Im sure there will be plenty of comments from people that have a. Never installed a set. B. Never compared or calibrated side by side. My personal edge controller uses a tmr sensor on the right and a hall effect on the left. You cannot tell any difference at all. When people Talk about power saving of tmr you are talking about fractions of amps. Is so small it’s not even noticeable. The guli kits are nice but overkill price. They managed to market them as “the solution”. The new Ginfull tmr and halleffects are buttery smooth. I use Ginfull the most, favor union sensors are also handy for conversions from alps sensors. I don’t like how the stock sticks are built. They have mechanical disadvantages that make them inferior, not just the sensors . Sometime people want the exact same feel as stock, so i will normally do a set of new alps sticks with favour union sensors

Hello! Excellent video. I have recently purchased both to see which I like better. I noticed on the regular hall effect the sound is a bit more thonky and also the key sounds are more consistent across the board. Also I noticed that the HE keys seem to be a bit more tight with less wiggle. Is this just variation in the boards or are they supposed to feel slightly different?

r/keyboards on Reddit: Thinking about switching to HE or TMR keyboard
October 14, 2025 -

Hey! So the title says it all, I was thinking of changing keyboard. Been playing with a Razer BlackWidow V3 TKL for about 4 years now. He's working fine, but now I'm looking to change for multiple reasons :

  • I'm now working in IT and need something a bit compact and BT (or dongle) to work with so I can bring it to work.

  • I'm pushing more into competitive gaming (Apex: Masters, CS2 : Premier 18k, Overwatch 2 : Diamond)

I've been playing with Tactile Switches, and I feel like I'm missing my good ol' Linear Switches from Ozone way back ago...

So now here I am. I searched everything, but I can't get my hand on anything specific :

I'm French so it doesn't help : Need (more or less) AZERTY keyboard (or ISO layout to not get disturbed), but I guess I can work with an ANSI layout with an AZERTY mapping.

Anyone got suggestions ? Or maybe experience feedback which can lead to a rethink of a TMR / HE keyboard purchase ?

Thanks in advance !

(sorry for the spelling if there's any fault)

October 31, 2025 -

Currently Im using custom Cidoo V65 and ALWAYS use the wireless mode to get that clean look on my desk

now Im searching for “Different” feel kind of boards, and after scrolling around, I found that Q1 HE and M1 V5 TMR is check all the boxes especially for HE feature and specifically for wireless capability

wanted to know you guys opinion about these 2 keyboards, about the physical quality, the PCB, Connection (does it have connection issue due to its HE capabilities?)

or any other suggestions for better quality HE keyboards ? (or unique like GravaStar V75 but unfortunately no wireless)

Thanks in advance

if wireless is a hard requirement you can say goodbye to all the best options, the q1 he uses a pretty bad switch family and is missing reliability features like autocal, and the monsgeek's pcb is manufactured by rongyuan who's uncommunicative and historically drops support fairly quickly

I don't have the Q1HE but I have the Q6HE, the Q3HE, 2 x Lemokey P1 HE and the M1 V5 TMR. Here's my take. Keychron (Lemokey ) is a bit more refined in terms of build quality/ fit and finish, has better keycaps (for my preference) and the software blows the Monsgeek's out of the water. Although my experience has been good, the recent reports of quality/ support issues can't be ignored. Switch options are very limited. Battery capacity is less than the TMR. The M1 V5 TMR has decent build quality, full aluminum but no fancy lines or curves. The keycaps are ugly, boring (to me) and side printed. Most people change keycaps anyway. The switch compatibility, with support for MX and magnetic switches, is hard to beat. Being able to mix them at the same time sold me on it. The software is a challenge but between the 2 versions of the web driver and the windows app, I'm able to do what I need. With 2 x 4000 mah batteries, battery life is pretty good. I've gone as long as 3 weeks on a charge with RGB on. It has a higher polling rate and lower latency than the Keychron, although honestly I can't feel the difference. I really like my Keychrons but if forced to choose one, I'd go Monsgeek by a slim margin. I think it's a more interesting board with much more flexibility with switches.

Current keyboard: EPOMAKER Tide75 (Picture for reference)

Hello!

I've been doing looking into a HE/TMR keyboard and have a few questions if any owners here/previous users will be able to shed some light for me.

I've had my eyes on a Fun60 Ultra due to recently finding how much a Wooting would actually cost to get it how I'd want it visually. I was curious to find out if:

  • A HE or TMR keyboard will noticeably make a difference to my FPS experience?

  • Should I be selecting the HE or TMR option?

  • Any other suggestions for Rapid Fire (HE/TMR) Keyboards?

Any help is incredibly appreciated!

(Not interested in hot swapping any switches etc. just out of the box play)

This will also be my FPS/MMO Keyboard as I have another to hand for Functionality keys and typing

I want to change the joysticks in my Scuf Envision Pro. The sticks are trash but I love having keyboard mappable buttons and side buttons. I have someone locally who would swap to TMR sticks for $45. He can't do hall effects for whatever reason. Which are better for me considering I play 95% FPS games like Call of Duty? Any info would be appreciated!

Sam's Club is having an absolute beast of a promotion. I was going to look at other keyboards, but at this price point, it's a no-brainer to go with the Keychron. They have it at this price both for shipped to your door and for in-store. Change your default store at the top of the page another one if it's not showing pickup as available.

Remember that Keychron uses the words "HE" for marketing purposes in this keyboard and it actually has superior TMR switches which are more accurate and consume less power. Think of it like Hall Effect 2.0 for those who don't know.

I have no need for the mouse so I plan to sell it which will make this an even better deal.

Normal, Hall-Effect or TMR, your experience? : r/Controller
May 20, 2025 - Sorry I guess I didn’t see this. Jitter on TMR sticks (sometimes HE) is when you lower a set deadzone to 0 or try and go lower than a safe value, you’ll begin to see minor ghosting movements in the stick when it’s not actually being used.

r/keyboards on Reddit: Deciding between Wireless TMR keyboards
October 6, 2025 -

Currently I have Wooting HE60+ and I am very happy with it, apart from couple of things:

Major:

  • Missing dedicated Arrow Keys (For coding, text editing, all sorts of things)

  • Wireless (Mostly for quickly switching between computers, as all the KVM switches I've tried more or less are not great, but also less cables on the table)

Minor:

  • Missing F-Row (rarely used, but as one of my computers is Win based, they come in handy now and then, but honestly can deal with layers here)

  • Missing dedicated ESC/Tilde keys (same as F-Row)

  • Sometimes missing Home and End keys for that quick start of the line and end of the line jumps

I still want some analog switches, so I've narrowed down my options to three:

  • MonsGeek M1 V5 TMR

    • Concerns around software - a lot of Reddit posts/comments about bad software kinda stops me from buying it

  • Womier SK75 TMR

    • Not 100% sold on design of it, but cant find anything particularly bad with it either

    • Only 1k Polling rate - not that it would probably matter that much

    • Not TMR, so concerned about battery life It actually is TMR, thanks u/ArgentStonecutter

    • Read that RGB is not addressable - not a must, but would be really nice to have

    • Cant mix and match Mag and Mech switches compared to competition

Does anyone have any other TMR Wireless options that I just have not found, and maybe someone has something really good to say about one of these to win me over?

I've been seeing a bunch of not so great things about this keyboard here but more so on the software and I'm wondering do a lot of you guys get these issues. I wanted to get this since it can mix and match mechanical and magnetic switches and it's been so long since I've gotten a keyboard and saw this less than 200 cad so I thought it wasn't that bad of a deal.

Anyway, do you guys think it's worth it to get this? if not, what are your recommendations
