Website Heatmap Tool: Optimize UX with Heatmap Software
Use a website heatmap tool to improve and refine your website, and give your customers a great experience.
Heatmaps: How accurate and useful are they?
We use them, one thing to keep in mind, at least with the software we're using, it doesn't differentiate mobile vs desktop. As a result "clicks" were showing up in odd areas. We realized they were taps from when the users scrolled on mobile devices. One thing we've used them for is to know what content to write next. We had a grid of options on our site which would eventually be clickable. We didn't know what to write first so we used the heatmap to see what people were interested in to help us make that decision. More on reddit.com

What is a heatmap tool?
A heatmap tool is software that tracks how visitors interact with your website—where they click, how far they scroll, and where they move their cursor—and visualizes that data as a color-coded overlay on your actual pages. Hot colors indicate high-activity areas; cool colors indicate low activity.

April 4, 2026 - Dynamic heatmaps are more technically complex to implement, which is why most tools still rely on static screenshots. Why this matters: If your website uses any JavaScript framework, has responsive layouts, or includes interactive elements like tabs and modals, static heatmaps will show you misleading data.

Heatmap Tools for Better Website Tracking in 2023
Here are three types of heatmap software tools to look out for. Click maps track user clicks on your webpage, creating color-coded overlays that provide valuable insights on performance.
