Ceramic Tile - Homedepot.ca
The Spanish-made elongated subway tile is crafted with a combination of high-tech machinery and artisanal craftsmanship. This ceramic tile is machine-cast in an intentionally imperfect mold, and hand-glazed and multi-fired to achieve the rich, deep colors that give it an on-trend handmade look.

r/Tile on Reddit: Should I pay for tile/flooring store tiles vs Home Depot?
January 26, 2025 -
We are doing a big remodel, and the architect has suggested specific tiles. I've seen tiles that look fine at Home Depot for a fraction of the price. So I wonder if I am missing something? ... I don't want to be penny-wise and pound-foolish and end up saving on tiles to pay 4x more on installation or bad quality, but I also don't want to just pay extra if I don't know what I am paying for.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheap tile at Home Depot, Lowe’s or Floor and Decor is often (not always) much lower quality than the tile you find at a flooring store. Sometimes it’s actually a lower quality version of the same tile and other times it’s a cheaply made tile that simply looks like the original. What I mean by lower quality is that the tile may be significantly bowed, have massive discrepancies in size, have lots of chips, drips in the surface coat, irregularities in design, different shades between tiles, repeating patterns, etc. In the case of natural stones, you will often find cheap versions from China instead of quality products from Italy. Depending on the application, some of these issues may not be that big of a deal. A floor with an offset pattern using 12”x24” tiles, for example, is a good place to use a lower quality porcelain because you can more easily hide the flaws. Intricate mosaics or “artsy” tiles to be installed in a shower or backsplash, however, may have flaws that literally cannot be hidden, regardless of the skill level of your installer.

Are tiles from Home Depot ok?
We have WorldWide Wholesaler flooring here in NJ and wondering if I should head over there instead. I'm just buying, install will be done by our basement guy. Thank you in advance ... I think you'll be fine. I know lots of people that have used tiles from both Home Depot and Lowes and they don't have any problems. We're installing tile from Lowes in our basement.

It’s gonna be your generic brand cheap Home Depot tile. It’s far less superior than Daltile or Marazzi but it’ll do the job. That being said, I did my bathroom in the basement with Home Depot’s cheapest that looks similar to this and it’s holding up pretty well considering the occasional use. Been about 4 years now. If your concern is about the tile breaking and future cracks, buy an extra box or a few pieces and put it in your garage for when the time comes. Edit: I highly doubt it’s porcelain unless it’s on clearance. Porcelain is always double the price or more of regular ceramic. Edit: https://www.homedepot.com/p/MSI-Brillion-Aspen-Gris-12-in-x-24-in-Matte-Ceramic-Floor-and-Wall-Tile-2-sq-ft-Each-NHDBRIASPGR1224/319022009 Yea it’s ceramic. MSI isn’t a bad company either so I would go for it.

Porcelain is always better. I’m sure the tile gods might frown, but doubting HD is much different then anything else assuming your not getting the cheap cheap stuff I always shy away from tile that looks like the color is printed on. Also consider slippery tile in places like bathroom s
