Is this tile from the Home Depot good?

It’s gonna be your generic brand cheap Home Depot tile. It’s far less superior than Daltile or Marazzi but it’ll do the job. That being said, I did my bathroom in the basement with Home Depot’s cheapest that looks similar to this and it’s holding up pretty well considering the occasional use. Been about 4 years now. If your concern is about the tile breaking and future cracks, buy an extra box or a few pieces and put it in your garage for when the time comes. Edit: I highly doubt it’s porcelain unless it’s on clearance. Porcelain is always double the price or more of regular ceramic. Contractor is telling me this tile is not for shower walls while Home Depot associate is telling me it is fine. What do you all think?

You absolutely can install these in a shower. There are, however, some things to be aware of. This is marble. It's porous and sometimes contains iron deposits. In wet areas, it will darken when wet and if it has iron in it, will rust. You can seal it and that will help slightly, but not forever. If you're using this on your shower pan, the pan must be installed correctly so that any water that gets under the tile will still drain. That means a preslope, then a liner, then the pan gets packed and the weep holes on the drain have to be exposed. If the pan is waterproofed topically, as long as it's pitched appropriately, it's fine. More on reddit.com

About to tile our bathroom. Just a shower surround not doing a tile floor. Standard 30x60 and probably going up to the ceiling so about 8 ft high.

Found what seemed like a good deal on Marazzi Modern Renewal Parchment 12 in. x 24 in. Glazed Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile (15.6 sq. ft./case)

I bought a loose piece as well. I know nothing about tile but it seems to be a good weight finish etc and the 5/16ths thickness they claim is accurate and matches the trim I'll be using where it transitions to the non tiled areas.

Anyone worked with their tile before and have any feedback or suggestions? I considered going to an actual tile supplier but to be honest as a first timer I'm not even sure what to ask or look for.

Open a box, put them face to face and back to back. Do you see obvious gaps or do they rock back and forth? You're looking for bowed in or out. Bowed tiles should be grid stacked or 1/3 offset at most. Then check for how dimensionally accurate they are. Size variations make the job 10x harder. Regardless of what you find be prepared for the next box to be totally different.

We are doing a big remodel, and the architect has suggested specific tiles. I've seen tiles that look fine at Home Depot for a fraction of the price. So I wonder if I am missing something? ... I don't want to be penny-wise and pound-foolish and end up saving on tiles to pay 4x more on installation or bad quality, but I also don't want to just pay extra if I don't know what I am paying for.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Porcelain is always better. I’m sure the tile gods might frown, but doubting HD is much different then anything else assuming your not getting the cheap cheap stuff I always shy away from tile that looks like the color is printed on. Also consider slippery tile in places like bathroom s
