Am I a bad person for finding the official Hamas gift bags for the freed hostages hilarious? I know what the hostages went through was absolutely horrific, and I’m genuinely relieved they’re free, but the idea of their captors handing them branded goodie bags afterward is absurd. The fact that the bags were stamped with Hamas’s seal to look serious and official, and apparently filled with commemorative items of their nightmarish experience as if they’re leaving a summer camp, is so funny to me. Hamas holds both Israeli hostages and the entirety of Gaza hostage. They have an interest prolonging this war for their own political survival and to increase the international pressure on Israel - they have the power to end this war today if they release all of the hostages. I don't understand how some pro-Palestine activists can even look themselves in the mirror without realizing how hypocritical they look when they supposedly work for a ceasefire while actively giving hand to this madness. Hamas are using the wider pro-Palestinian movement as massive motivation to continue prolonging the war by rebuilding their manpower through child soldiers with lesser training, making money through their monopolies on the black markets and by selling the FREE aid donated by the world. The fact that the wider activist community doesn't see how they're playing into this injustice like crazy is baffling, and it's even more depressing knowing that they're completely clueless to these facts. If you look at heavily pro-Palestinian subreddits, you will see that their strategies are working. People see them smile and wave and actually believe that the hostages had a great time in captivity, and any attempt to say otherwise is "Israeli propaganda". More on reddit.com
