We did the HVAC through Costco's program. Not a good experience. It was a large, well-known, well-established local contractor that did it, but they clearly sent their crappiest people. They screwed up the job, and then screwed up the fix. They charged close to or slightly more than the other quotes we got, and the sleazy salesman really worked to misrepresent the total, even including our executive rewards in the "total" we'd be paying. When he got up to get something from the truck, we noticed in his paperwork that he seemed to have two pricelists, and the Costco one he was showing up had all the same stuff just marked up to make it seem we were getting a value with the rebate. He also heavily pressured us to make a decision now, now, now, this deal might not be here after I walk out the door kind of thing. We were prepared for a lot of that, though we didn't expect to get it through the Costco program. We decided to go with them despite those issues b/c we liked the system they offered, and we figured Costco would back us if we had issues with them.
