I returned an item I bought with points and was given a gift card.

I was told by the cashier that I could use the card just like it was a regular credit card for online purchases on their site.

I thought nothing of it but now that I'm actually trying to use it, I don't think it works like that. I can't really input it instead of a credit card as it has no expiration date or security code.

Still, searching for information shows that it's meant to be usable online but I don't see how.
