I know this question has been asked a few times before, but usually in the context of gaming laptops. I'm not at all looking to game - I'm looking for a work/study laptop that has high performance and can handle multitasking. I'll be using microscopy software, handling/proceeding large images (I'm a grad student), and running Photoshop/Illustrator - often at the same time.

I don't want to break the bank on getting a new work laptop, and it seems that 12th gen i7s are a lot more affordable than 13th gen i7s, so if I'm not going to get the latter, would y'all recommend I get a 12th gen i7 or a 13th gen i5? Or are either of them overkill for anyone not looking to game? Thank you!

As a sidenote, this is another laptop I'm considering (13th gen i7); it's surprisingly cheap for being a 13th gen i7 so I'm wondering if there's some major con about it that I'm not noticing - would love it if someone who actually knows laptops could give me their 2 cents on this, hahaha!
