I have the Micke desk with the two drawers and I love it, but I wish I had some upper storage like they used to sell as the add on.
Short of building the topper myself, what are some good hacks for storage?
Editing to add more specific details: I would like to have shelf space to put books and files and items like that. I do not need drawers. My ceiling height is 9’, so I have plenty of room vertically.
I'm looking to get a new desk with tons of storage space and have been looking on the Ikea (Canada) website, and I've noticed that "building" a desk is pretty customizable.
I really love the storage options of the LAGKAPTEN / ALEX desk (this one specifically), but I was hoping to have some storage above the top of the desk as well. I saw that the MICKE add-on unit came as it's own piece (this one), but its description seems to insinuate that it cannot be attached to other desks besides the MICKE models.
I was just hoping to know if others have attempted to attach the MICKE add-on unit onto other desk bases, or how it is attached to the base (ie: are there special attachments or notches that are exclusive to the MICKE models)? I do plan on having the desk against a wall, so if its a matter of just making it work I want to try it, but unfortunately there is no Ikea within 4 hours of me so I have to order online and want to be sure I'm not making a dumb decision in hopes that it will just work!
