Can someone explain to me how shopping at IKEA works for non-self service furniture?

What’s a good furniture store that is similar to IKEA?

I'm in in USA, particularly New Haven store. I just have a few questions about shopping I can't seem to locate anywhere else.
I went to the showroom and some of the furniture is self-service, so you pick it up in the giant hall on the way out, but some items, particularly sofas, say to contact a staff member to purchase. Is it just as simple as telling someone what you want and then they direct you to where to pick it up that day or is it more involved?
For click and collect, how much time is typically required before your order is ready? I ask because I was going to place an order for pickup Saturday for moving into a new place because I had help that day to pick it up and move in. However, now I am required to pick it up on Wednesday. Is placing an order Tuesday too late for a realistic (morning) Wednesday pickup? So, meaning that I should instead go and pick out what I want from self service and the sofas?
Are the staff-assist items and self-service items rung up together? I want to pay them all together due to a deal on my credit card that applies to one transaction.
Thanks for the help in advance.
