I am looking to replace my old 2013 27” iMac which is just slowing down to a crawl now. It is our family computer now mostly used for watching Netflix or Hulu, playing Stardew Valley, Plants vs Zombies or other older games like these. My kids school work and the occasion photo editing with photoshop or designing flyers for school with indesign. Although these stopped working a while ago so I was thinking of switching to affinity programs.
I was thinking of getting a refurbished 2020 27” iMac with the i7 and just upgrading the ram myself.
I’d like to get at least 5 years out of the computer from now.
I like the idea of the all in one computer and so does my wife.
Other options I was looking at was the new Mac mini pro with upgraded ram or the new studio base model that just was announced with an apple display. But that will run me around 3500 and I was looking to keep the cost more around $2000.
Is there an all in one display. With a. Decent camera for zoom classes if needed and a decent set of spreaders built in? The speakers that threw 2013 has are good for us. I just don’t want to add external speakers.
Sorry for the lengthy post I was just really hoping for a 27” iMac replacement and was bummed when they didn’t come out with one.
I should mention I want at least a 27 inch display. I was looking at the Samsung m8? Monitor but I see it having mixed reviews. Hence why I was looking at getting the iMac

I got a 2020 iMac 27" in 2023 and I have zero regrets. It really is a beaut and a powerhouse. It runs any game I throw at it using Bootcamp, and I need to use software natively w/ Windows so that was a big reason I still got an Intel Model. That being said, if you don't need to use Windows, then I would steer towards getting a M2 Mac Mini and a 4k/5k monitor

I just bought a nearly maxed out mid 2020 27” iMac to replace my aging 2013 27. I got what I think was a killer deal. Mid2020 iMac 27” with nano texture glass! Core i9 3.6ghz cpu that turbos to 5.2ghz 64gb ram (original Apple ram, 2x32gb) 4tb apple SSD AMD 5700XT with 16gb ram Perfect condition and I paid $2200 on eBay from a reputable NY based computer reseller. 1 year Allstate warranty included by the seller. This system as configured was $6500! I paid 1/3 for it and I love every bit of it. So worth it to me. I could have never justified paying $6500 for it in 2020 or 2021. I’m going to install another 64gb of ram to max it out. I will then have a fully maxed out 2020 except for the 8tb ssd option which I’m ok with. I say do it! But look for a maxed out model. There are savings to be had.
