Long story short, l'm considering whether to use a MagSafe wallet full time. Although I'm a tech head and have used plenty of MagSafe accessories, I never switched over to MagSafe wallets.
On the one hand, l'm still a traditional wallet carrier. My main reason was for security as I was worried about losing both my phone AND wallet if I misplace my phone. Additionally, I've always been worried about the wallet coming off and I don't notice. On the other hand, I barely carry any cards lol (an ID, a debit and credit card). I also don't carry cash. Only do so when I know I will need it. As a result, l use primarily thin wallets or card holders, which a MagSafe wallet could entirely replace AND allow me to carry one less item when I leave the house.
What has y'all's experience with MagSafe wallets been like? Should I give them a go for once?
Hi everyone, I recently got my first iPhone being the 14 pro, I was wondering if getting a magsafe wallet to go along with it is worth it? With a magsafe wallet I would carry my student id and my drivers license as every store around me supports apple pay. I heard from friends that the magsafe wallet from apple is bulky and just not worth the value, so what would you recommend, should I buy a magsafe wallet or stick with a physical wallet?

In all honesty, it’s just really annoying to have on the phone (14 pro max). It doesn’t do well with cases. From using both the leather case and clear, it is either too strong of a grip, or too loose to where it slips off from light force. The find my was so annoying because you take it off for 2 seconds and the phone is yelling at you. It holds 1-3 cards, enough said. I found myself just using it off of the phone as a separate wallet and came to the realization that, maybe I didn’t need it after all! I really believed in it and even ordered 2 just to see which color I’d go for, but it really just wasn’t doing it for me.
If you only need a single ID and couple cards and want to reach God tier minimalism, this may be for you. But if you want to carry any combination of ID(s), some credit/debit cards, gift cards from that one birthday, polaroid of a loved one, cash, etc, maybe keep the wallet or card case.
Now I'm currently searching for the best MagSafe wallet to pair with my iPhone. I want something that’s slim, secure, and convenient enough to carry a few cards without feeling bulky or falling off easily. Bonus if it also looks good and is made from durable material.
I’ve come across a few options while browsing, but I’d love to hear about your personal experiences or suggestions. Some MagSafe wallets I’ve seen mentioned include:
Apple Leather Wallet with MagSafe
MOFT MagSafe Wallet Stand
Spigen Smart Fold Wallet
Bellroy Mod Wallet + Case
PopSockets PopWallet+ for MagSafe
Nomad Card Wallet with MagSafe
ESR HaloLock Vegan Leather Wallet
If you’ve found a wallet that actually stays put, holds enough, and feels worth the price, I’d really appreciate your thoughts. I’m trying to find the right mix of style, function, and reliability.
Or should I purchase a nice slim front pocket wallet that holds a little more? 🤔
Hi all,
I am considering getting the magsafe wallet. However the wallet is $60 and seems very expensive. I was considering buying used or finding better options that are more affordable if anyone has suggestions for best budget magsafe wallet on amazon or elsewhere please let me know. Really appreciate the help
I was thinking about picking one up and using it as my main wallet. I only ever need to carry my ID and Apple Credit card for the most part. Does it stay connected to the phone well? Debating on what I want to do but haven’t seen any real reviews about it. Thanks for the help in advance!
Getting iphone 13 pro max this week together with leather case. Wondering if the magsafe wallet would be a great purchase? How’s your experience with it? Does it justify its price tag of 50€?
What ruined the Magsafe wallet for me is actually the rest of the ecosystem, like the Magsafe Duo, the battery, and the Magsafe pucks that I put in the car and nightstand.
In the car is the best example: I hang my phone on the Magsafe car mount when I get in. With the wallet on, I have to remove it first, and then remember to put it back on when I get out. Same thing if I need to top off with MagSafe Battery Pack.
Basically, the convenience having a couple of cards right there has turned into having a couple of cards always in the way. :)
I have one and it’s OK I guess. I thought it would be a stronger hold but it’s a bit slippery. I have to be very careful when taking my phone out of my pocket.
I mean as a millennial I basically never carry cash anymore. It happens. At this point I've got my ID and a couple of cards and that's it. Tell me here who uses a MagSafe wallet on the back of their phone and exclusively uses the MagSafe wallet… How do you find the experience? Do you ever get over the fear of losing all your shit or like is it always just in the back of your mind? I suppose if you have any recommendations I would like those as well because I'm brand new to this and I'd like it to be a good experience. Give me your protective, luxury, whatever options.
EDIT: Decided to try the Pelican Shield MagSafe RFID Blocking Wallet. Not that I need the RFID but can't hurt. I like the design, and I like the latch system, feels more secure to me.
EDIT 2: I am also going to try the bellroy 3 card case. It’s al all in one solution that looks super appealing.
I own an iPhone 17 Pro Max with a Caudabe Case
I own a slim credit card holder with a money clip on the opposite side that looks similar to this:
The idea of getting a MagSafe wallet is intriguing. It would attach a wallet to my phone, keeping everything all-in-one, but I have some concerns...
First, the bulk. I can hardly get my iPhone Pro Max in my jeans pocket with little room to spare. Adding a MagSafe wallet would make fitting everything into a pocket more difficult.
Next, if I wanted to buy a really good, well-made MagSafe wallet with a money clip, the best two items I have found are from Journey, and they are expensive.
This is the LOC8 MagSafe Finder Wallet and Stand with Money Clip. It sells for $110. There is even a nicer one, the VERSA, that sells for $130.
There is a Black Friday sale that brings both down 20%, but it's still crazy expensive.
I am kind of leaning towards the one pictured above, but I have never owned a MagSafe wallet, and I am wondering if I am really gaining anything by buying this when I already own a slim credit card wallet (first photo) that I bought a credit card Find My insert for.
Yes, there are cheaper MagSafe options. The ESR ones are nice, but no money clip. At least the Journey is real leather and built for endurance.
Just wanted to get some opinions from those who carry around these MagSafe wallets. Are they bulky? Can you get your iPhone and attachment into your pants pocket? Did you buy one of these and then months later go back to a regular wallet?
Thanks for your opinions
Hey everyone. I’m really hesitating between the official Apple MagSafe wallet and the Caseology MagSafe wallet. Is it worth paying about $50 extra to get the official one with Find My? Thanks!
I’m interested in purchasing my first magsafe wallet and narrowed my search down to these 6. Looking for a slimmer option to hold 2-4 cards: ID, credit, debit, miscellaneous 4th depending on need. If I went with the peak I’d probably have it replace my wallet entirely. Having a stand is not a need, but nice. Mostly concerned with not wanting them to accidentally fall out. Not concerned with tracking hence not listing apple wallet or esr geolink.
Which would you/did you pick & why?
Distil - Wally Junior
Kings Loot - Kings Back
Peak Design - Mobile Wallet
Moft - Movas
Ekster - MagSafe Cardholder
Magbak - Wallet
If so, how did you do it and what Magsafe wallet do you use?
If not, what do you put in your Magsafe wallet and what do you put in your regular wallet?
This is probably gonna be a long post...
Off the bat, the experience of the MagSafe wallet will be different for everyone. EVERYONE! The reason I say this is because every review I’ve read and seen has said bad and good things, mostly bad though. For me however, it’s good. And it also really depends on how you use your phone, what pants/shorts you wear, how you use a wallet etc.
I have the 12 Pro Max for reference and I am a guy.
I personally put my phone in my back pocket. I wear pants 99% of the time. I wear both somewhat tight jeans and not so tight jeans. I love minimalist wallets. I really only keep 3 cards on me. ID, 2 credit cards. I use 3 different cases. A clear case (not MagSafe), Apple Leather case (MagSafe), and a bumper case (a bumper case only covers the sides of the phone so it is automatically a MagSafe case).
The Price: $60 USD—— First of all, it’s a wallet. It is advertised as a wallet, a minimalist wallet at that. Now I have spent more than $60 on wallets before. So for me, $60 on a wallet is reasonable. Obviously not everyone has $60 sitting around to spend, that being said, your first immediate thought should be “Are you okay with spending $60 on a wallet?” No? Then don’t read any further and stop looking into the MagSafe wallet. Remember the only function of this is to be a wallet, a card holder. That is all, that is is the original purpose of a modern day wallet, to hold your cards.
The Design—— Once you are pass the point of price, next up is the design. Again it is a wallet, a wallet that attaches to your phone (iPhone 12 and above) without a case or with a MagSafe case. If you don’t have a MagSafe case or don’t use one I’ll touch on that later in a different section. This wallet holds 3 cards, DO NOT TRY TO FIT 4! Unless you’re literally using paper cards (which is highly not recommended) 3 cards max. Also this is not a wallet meant for people who like to carry cash, if you want to carry cash or you must carry cash, then either do not buy this or buy a money clip (you can buy them for cheap for around $5 USD). Now your next question(s) should be “Can I go through my daily life with only 3 cards? No? Then stop right here and do not buy this product” And “do I need to carry cash with me?” Yes? Then do not buy this product or buy a money clip and proceed to the next section
The Feel—— It’s leather. It’s premium. Are you against leather? #saveTheAnimals? Then don’t buy this product.
The Usability—— Cool, chances are all that’s left is to purchase this wallet. So do it, as long as you keep your receipt and or are able to fully get a refund you have no reason to at least try it out during the return window. Furthermore, if you do not know the return window, ask! The general rule for return windows is I believe 14 or 7 days (here in the US). (Time skip some time) You open up your package, attach your wallet for the first time and it feels good. This whole section is honestly just purely opinion based. I have yet to have this wallet fall off for me. You can try it out yourself, try it without a case and with a MagSafe case (if you have one) you will feel the difference between the 2 choices. I personally like the bit of added weight I get when I have it on. Taking out the cards from the little hole on the back makes it easy to take out the cards, I would highly recommend to put the card you use the most in the back where the hole is, this way you can always guarantee that this will be the first card you take out. If you put your phone in your back pocket like I do, I highly doubt it will ever fall off. Your front pocket is a different story, this will be different because it depends on how you take out your phone from your pockets. If you grab the sides of your phone while taking it out of your pocket, chances are your MagSafe wallet will be in your pocket when you take out your phone. If you grab your phone with your whole hand then you have no worry about the wallet staying in your pocket. If you grab the top of your phone then depending on the phone you have it may or may not stay in your pocket (more on this later). I also personally love the fact that I have an empty pocket now or in some cases 2 empty front pockets (I sometimes, rarely use a money clip for when I know I go to places that require cash).
The iPhone 12 Mini—— The wallet is an exact fit for the mini so chances are no matter where you put your phone with the wallet it won’t fall off, why? The mini is exact making it so your gonna grab the wallet along with the phone almost at all times. The only caveat is using this with a bumper case on the mini, bumper cases have a slight lip on the back so that way the phone doesn’t touch the surface you place your phone on, so if you use a bumper on your mini or plan to, you most likely won’t be able to use the MagSafe Wallet
The iPhone 12 / iPhone 12 Pro—— They’re both the same size, so one section. This is where “how you take out your phone and where you place it” starts to matter more. Putting on the MagSafe wallet leaves this “bezel” on the bottom of the phone. If you grab your phone by the sides or the bottom/top of the phone when in your front pocket, decent chances it will stay in your pocket. Again it matters how much of your hand grabs your phone when in the pocket to take it out.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max—— Pretty much the same as the 12 and 12 Pro, however you have more of a “bezel” on both top and bottom so the where you put your phone and how you take out your phone matters even more. Again if you put your phone in your back pocket, you should be perfectly fine.
No case—— The wallet attaches fine, it is neither strong or weak. If bumped hard enough it will fall off. Using it without a wallet does make it easier to use as far as taking off the wallet to take out a card. So that would be the biggest pro to using no case.
Clear cases (not MagSafe)—— Most generic clear cases and by that I mean unless you get a very slim clear case or a very bulky one. They’re all the same thickness. It still attaches, however, it is not very strong. It will still stay there but if you bump your phone, very good chance it will fall off.
Apple Leather Case (MagSafe)—— By far the best way to keep your wallet attached. Why? After your leather case absorbs the oils from your hands and develops the patina this starts to make the case “sticky”, not actually sticky but it’ll feel more grippy the leather. This makes the wallet attach better, so much so that after I think 15mins, unless you actively try to take it off, it’s not coming off. Downside, you’ll see a very faint and I mean very faint unfinished circle on your leather case.
Bumper Case—— Same as using the phone naked, just with a bumper case. Very important though if you have a mini, it is recommended to not use both a bumper and a MagSafe wallet as most bumpers have a back lip to prevent the phone from touching the surface of where you place the phone. This lip will make your wallet fall off very easy.
TLDR:
$60 too much? Don’t buy
Need more than 3 cards or need to carry cash? Don’t buy
Not a fan of leather and #saveTheAnimals? Don’t buy
Got a 12 Mini? Try it
Got a 12 / 12 Pro? Go to The Usability section and the 12/12Pro section
Got a 12 Pro Max? Go to The Usability section and the 12 Pro Max section
Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I have to take it off to get a card out.
When using 3 cards, even if detached from the phone it is tough to get a card out. I use a Magsafe car mount so when driving I put the Magsafe wallet in my pocket anyways like I would any other wallet.
Overall just not really feeling it.
I use it situationally, like if I am going out, I’ll bring it and just have a card, and ID
I wouldn’t say you’re using it wrong, but maybe it’s just not for you. Did you expect to be able to remove cards without taking the wallet off? That wouldn’t be too secure in my opinion. I also use 3 cards and I agree it’s a bit tough to slide them out, but that also gives me confidence that the cards are secure. I have a handful of MagSafe accessories including the wallet, popsocket and charger, and I love their ability to snap on and off and I never feel like I need to be using more than one of them at a time.
Hey all!
I have an iPhone 13 Pro and got the leather Apple MagSafe wallet when I purchased it a few years ago.
Unfortunately the time has come to replace the wallet but was bummed out to see Apple no longer sold the leather and the fine woven is a big step down in quality (especially for 60 bucks smh)
I’m looking for any recommendations on any MagSafe wallet at a reasonable price. Def prioritizing magnetic strength (can’t be losing it) and durability ! I only use it to carry 2 cards so space for additional cards/money is not needed.
If possible I’d prefer one to match my forest green iPhone just like my current one but am not opposed to other colors for a superior product.
So far I’ve seen good things about the esr and spigen one but looking for all suggestions !
Thank u! :)
I have been going back and forth on getting the Apple MagSafe wallet but can't make a decision. I need someone to sway me one way or the other!
TIA
I’ve always liked minimal wallets. I pulled the trigger on one and like it with the leather case. I carry around three cards I need daily so no need for a big wallet that just collects things. And I always have my wallet and phone together. So the three tap check before leaving is just two taps these days.
I ordered one today , expensive but if it can make my pockets carry less I’m all in
Ive gone through two magsafe wallets in the past year and have decided enough is enough. What are some good quality wallets that have stood the test of time for you that arent too expensive
Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for a MagSafe wallet and could use some recommendations on the best ones available. I’m looking for something sleek, durable, and able to hold at least 2+ cards and some cash—without adding too much bulk to my iPhone. (Not a huge fan of the Apple MagSafe wallet.)
Bonus points if it has a strong grip and doesn’t slide around easily. I’d love to hear your personal experiences or what you’ve found to be the most reliable.
Thanks in advance!
3 main concerns are capacity (4-5 card is ideal), some type of find my, and sturdy hold. what's my best option
