only one way to find out! try them on and see how you feel about them. you might also want to consider going to the juniors' section, or try places like h&m that tend to run a bit small in my experience. i have no idea what jeans look like in kids' or juniors' sections, but i am guessing it will probably be harder to find plain, non-distressed or whiskered or bedazzled jeans. Are you willing to try the girls jeans? They seem to fit snugger. I feel ya though. My LO will be 3 in 6 weeks, but her waist is 12-18 mo. She's annoyed by all the 2T high waters and her 3Ts fall off. And we got a batch of hand-me-down 4Ts that I need to hide because she wants to wear them all the time. She looks a little homeless. I know T sizes are usually cheaper than boys, but T sizes tend to have more room in the butt for a diaper. I would look in the boys section and search for "slim" or "skinny sizes" in size 4. Target Cat and Jack has a "slim", along with Kohl's Jumping Bean. We just have to do a lot of jeans unfortunately because getting sweatpant types is really hard. More on reddit.com
