Trouble with a Kohler 7000 Series 22 HP - looking for advice | Lawn Care Forum
August 16, 2023 - It was running great. I have always used Ethanol Free gas. I conducted my 50 hr maintenance with a Kit from Kohler. It included 2 quarts of oil, new oil, fuel, and air filters. and new Spark plugs. Now after the engine warms up, it sputters and pops it struggles in high grass.

Having trouble with my Hustler zero turn.
About a months ago I hopped onto the mower and started it, and I noticed it was hard to start. The next week I went to use it and it wouldn’t start- just crank crank crank so it turns over but never actually fires up. So far I have changed the carburetor, including the fuel solenoid, spark plugs, fuel lines to the fuel pump fuel pump, fuel pump, oil, and gas. After changing fuel pump and hoses and carburetor, when trying to start, it does the same thing. Carburetor bowl fills up with gas just never starts even with starting fluid. I have messed with the auto choke by manually choking. Still, no luck. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

If it cranks and cranks, it's clearly (most likely) an electrical issue. Sounds you checked everything, but the one thing it probably is.... the magento. Did you try a spark plug tester to confirm the magneto is actually producing spark?

Will it start on starting fluid? Also check to make sure the fuel solenoid is working, you said new carb but could be wiring/electrical issue to the carb.

If it cranks the engine at the normal speed (and if it can get the engine running briefly), I doubt the starter's power is the issue. It sounds more like a fuel issue. It's possible than when you ran it out of gas, you may have sucked something from the bottom of the tank into the carburetor, for instance. This could be some debris (piece of a leaf, etc), or water that was at the bottom of the tank. Will it run for a few seconds if you remove the air filter (in a non-dusty environment), give the intake a spray of starting fluid or carb cleaner (or a small splash of gas), then try to start it? If so, that shows you have a fuel problem. If the carburetor bowl is accessible, I would loosen the bolt on the bowl, and try letting some gas drain out of the bowl, in case you have water in there. Then tighten the bowl's bolt again, and give it another try. More on reddit.com

October 16, 2011 - I have seen a few cases in which the solenoid gets gummed up or debris infiltrates the piston, preventing it from moving. If this doesn't solve the problem, it may be necessary to clean up/rebuild the carb.
