My thought is that zoomed in, in the second image the pilot's face is almost photographic, a notably different style from the rest of the image. And he has a different facial expression, but whether that's bad or good depends on what you're looking for. The first version uses a lot of halftone-style shading, which is mostly but not entirely eliminated in the second image. Again, whether that's good or bad depends on what you want style-wise. I think I prefer the MJ version for that, since it's more consistent across the whole image. But if you don't like speckles, of course the other one is better. Choosing between upscalers is mostly a matter of taste, but it's always better to have more options ;) And if you need more than a 2x upscale (very likely for printing wall art etc), you absolutely need a 3rd party AI upscaler. I use Topaz Gigapixel AI for this, also not free, but unlimited. And I haven't tried Magnific, but the other potential advantage of a GOOD AI upscaler is having a lot of settings so you can control how to handle blur, noise and so on.
