American politician and gun control activist (born 1970)
Mark Kelly's wife is Gabby Giffords, a former U.S. Representative from Arizona and a prominent gun violence prevention advocate. She was born Gabrielle Dee Giffords on June 8, 1970, in Tucson, Arizona, and served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012 before resigning following a near-fatal shooting in 2011. Giffords married Mark Kelly in 2007, and after her recovery, she became a leading voice in the gun safety movement, co-founding the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. The couple has two daughters, Claudia and Claire, and welcomed their first grandchild, Sage, in 2021.
