Does it seem there is something off about this show? I desperately want to like it (only on episode 5) as I like the concept, the actors and the general vibe. However, maybe they should kill the laugh track and let the comedy flow more authentically. The cast is way talented and naturally funny! Also, I think it’s trying to be the Gay male Golden Girls (which I loved) but it doesn’t need to be. It definitely needs another season (or ten) but, for those of you watching, any initial reactions?
Update: My partner and I just finished watching. Episodes 9 & 10 redeemed the whole season. I need at least seven more seasons. They NAILED it!!!!!

Wow. I’m definitely in the opposition here. My husband and I loved it. We were laughing out loud and completely enjoying it. (Have 4 episodes to go) Maybe it has something to do with our age? Golden girls was a new show to us in our twenties and frankly, though it is produced by the same who produced Will and grace, it has a more golden girls and 80s vibe to us from jokes, to camera work to laugh track. Very different than today’s comedy’s with very different jokes, camera work and no laugh track (we also like modern comedies). Maybe we are used to it or it’s a nostalgia factor, but we like the show. Oh, and we are both ex-Mormon so Matt Bomer’s character resonates with us and feels a good analogy to Rose’s innocence, niceness and naivety with a touch of devil). Anyway. I hope there is a second season

I am a fervent fan if Will&Grace, and while I can see the clear influence of that show here, I'm actually quite disappointed in this show. I don't find the jokes funny, the punchlines are obvious and expected and the line deliveries are sometimes also off. I read (here on reddit, so pinch of salt) that it was actually filmed in front of a live studio audience, so the laughter does seem authentic (not a laugh track). I'm on episode 6 right now and I'll probably finish the season as I like watching gay content, but this is unfortunately not something I'd go back to. It's a pity though.
