No, the reason that you cannot use Devoid cards in a Commander deck with a colorless commander is that a card's "color" is not the same thing as it's "color identity". "Color identity" dictates what cards that can go in your Commander deck, not "color".

While the card text states that the card is colorless it does include colored mana symbols on the card. These colored mana symbols will determine the color identity of the card.
The example of Extort you give doesn't apply to this because the mana symbol is part of the remainder text but not the mana cost or rules text of the card.

The card's color is colorless, but it has a color identity based on the mana pips in its rules text. For example, [[Eldrazi Aggressor]] is a colourless card, with a red color identity.

There seems to be some confusion over colorless mana. There's a difference between a cost not requiring colored mana and a cost requiring colorless mana. A number in a circle as part of a cost means "(that much) generic mana". This means you can pay this part of the cost with mana of any color, or with colorless mana (in any combination). A diamond in a circle means "one colorless mana". If it's in a cost then this part of the cost can only be paid with colorless mana (unlike generic mana costs which can also be paid with any color). If it's being generated by an effect then this mana can be used to pay both colorless costs or generic costs (but not colored costs). Color identity is determined by the colored mana symbols on a card (among other things). If a card doesn't have colored mana symbols then (barring other things, like color indicator dots etc) it will have a colorless identity, regardless of whether it has generic or colorless costs (because either way, it's costs lack a color). Tl;dr: you don't need a commander with diamond symbols on its card in order to use cards with diamond symbols on them - colorless isn't a color, it's a lack of color.
