How do I deal with constantly having to update/reset my passwords for various services which are variations on a master password?
My Stored passwords Missing
I wasn't planning on changing my passwords, but you guys tempted me...
What is a good way to keep track of all my logins and passwords?
It's not just Lastpass- a ton of them have done it. Fuck, I'm still absolutely livid. That was extortion, plain and simple. A total goddamn racket.
"Pay me $5 or I'm going to bar you from your account with tons of valuable things in it, and I'm not going to give you a free way to get the contents out that isn't a ton of hassle."

My passwords for various services like email, social media etc are site specific variations of a very strong master password.
However, I've changed a new phone and it's irritating having to constantly change passwords, update passwords; and sometimes I forget my site-specific password variation so I have to come up with a new one, and I have to remember that.
How do I manage all these without having to use a password manager?
Whatโs going on? The same happened to me. Probably it has something to do with some latest update. i understand that there was going to be some updates on Wallet. But I understood that nothing was going to happen with saved passwords.
This happened to me also. Spent 2 days chatting with Co-pilot and finally found the reason. When the upgrade took place, a certain switch secretly got toggled, and until you fix that, you will continue to lose your passwords every time you sign off a device. Here's what to do:
Go to edge://settings/privacy/clearBrowsingData
(there are 2 boxes on the right side of the screen, in the first one, the second line reads: "Choose what to clear every time you close the browser" with an arrow at the end. Click on that arrow, a new list pops up showing categories such as favorites, passwords, etc. Make sure that the toggle for PASSWORDS (and anything else you want to keep) is switched to the OFF position. For some reason the update turns the "PASSWORDS" switch to ON so every time you close your browser, any passwords you entered or had stored will be erased.
It took me 2 days to figure out what was happening, and luckily, I bought a new laptop last August, so I fired up the old one, saved the passwords to a .CSV file then synced it to my current laptop. If you happen to be lucky and have a device you haven't turned on since the upgrade, you can do this too, BUT: Be forewarned: You will want to make sure that the old device CANNOT connect to the internet when you turn it on, or it will sync with your current device and erase everything there too.
I unplugged my router, THEN turned on old laptop, put it in Airplane mode, made the .CSV file, then turned off AIRplane mode, plugged router back in, reconnected old laptop to internet and uploaded the .CSV file to OneDrive. I then turned off old laptop, turned new laptop back on and downloaded the .CSV file to my current/new laptop and salvaged all of my passwords, except for any new ones I made since last August, but I retrieved 740 passwords so I consider it a BIG WIN! BUT, be sure you fix the that toggle switch before you start this process or you will just lose it all again when you close the Edge browser.
I had 2FA enabled, so I wasn't too worried about the hack. But with all the problems people are facing, I thought, let's see what the hoopla is all about. So I changed my password, purged sessions, went to LOCAL-IP:32400/web, logged in with the new password, and claimed my server. The end...
But I honestly feel bad for people having a hard time because I remember there was a time when I was starting out with Plex that I had trouble reclaiming my server, and I restarted from scratch. But ever since then, I figured out that you have to be on the same local network (subnet) when you go to LOCAL-IP:32400/web, and you can't do it from plex.tv, otherwise the claim button won't be there. I'm pretty sure some people even went to plex.tv to try and claim their server and are surprised that they can't find their server, let alone a claim button. I understand why Plex has this limitation; it's so that strangers from the internet can't claim your server.
But still, there are probably better ways of doing this. The instructions on reclaiming your server (if you can't claim it by accessing LOCAL-IP:32400/web) are too complicated for novice and non-technical users. Unfortunately, I think Plex's mentality nowadays is "if it's not that bad or that broken, we're not gonna touch it."
TIP: The "LOCAL-IP:32400/web" is a local copy of the same web app hosted on Plex's servers (plex.tv). So even tho they look the same, you're not looking at the same website. You will know this because they will usually have different version numbers. The plex.tv version is ahead of the local version. Currently, the plex.tv web version is 4.149.0, while the local web version is 4.147.1 (if you're on PMS version 1.42.2.10122). You can load the local version even when you're not on the same local network: You go to YOUR-SERVERS-PUBLIC-IP:32400/web, which will load the local version of that server. (FYI, you can't claim your server like this; you have to access it using the LOCAL-IP, as discussed previously)
