It seems like every 6 months or so I get fraudulent charges on one of my debit cards (I have 2 checking accounts) I can’t pinpoint what it could be from as I always try to use ApplePay, never swipe at gas stations or any stores for that matter. I just recently happened to me online with 2 purchases from PetSmart.

Hello all, looking for some feedback.

I have been a Navy Federal member since 2013 and have had fantastic service until 2023. My card was hacked and used in February 2024 and I claimed fraud. They sent me a new card but unfortunately I left for work overseas before it got to me. This was not a big deal as I had my other Navy Federal card at that time. I called and informed them of my new address and was told one was sent out. This was in March 2024. The card still has not arrived (June 2024) and my second card somehow got hacked even though I don't physically use it (only online). I also keep all my cards in an RFID wallet (advertised as anyway). My cards stay frozen until the exact moment I need to use them, then I unfreeze and use them. Okay, annoying but not the end of the world, we can use my wifes card. I called Navy federal and reported it. They sent me a new card and I asked about my other one. I was told it was never sent. I asked the representative to send the card that was attached to my name because my wife is an authorized user on my account. All is good right? Wrong, they shut off my wife's card and now we have no way to access our credit cards. I refuse to even take my debit cards out of the house. Very luckily I can still withdrawl money at the Embassy by check.

A few thoughts I have had in the recent days:

How is it only my Navy Federal is getting hacked? I also ways carry my AMEX and other cards and not once have they been fraudulently used.

I don't remember service being this incompetent ever, has something happened in the last couple of years?

In lue of all this controversy, I am seriously considering leaving. I no longer feel like my funds are secure with Navy Federal. I know they have fantastic benefits but what's the point if I get hacked every few months?

Was Navy Federal Credit Union hacked the website was giving errors between 10 and 11 EST today but it seems to be fixed right now

I’m having trouble using my card to buy groceries. It keeps saying declined even though there’s enough money in my account. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hey all, about almost 4-5 years ago, my Navy federal account was hacked and hence, my account got flagged as fraudulent and got restricted access. My credit cards were cancelled and I had to pay off the balance owed on these cards. I sent multiple Security appeals explaining why I needed a second chance. I even told them to close the account and opened me a new one 😅. Just a couple months ago, I sent in an appeal and to my surprise they lifted the restriction.. (AFTER 4 GOT DAMN YEARS 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬).

My credit isn’t too shabby so I went ahead to pre qualify for their CC. The only card I qualified for was the unsecured card haha. Anyone been in a similar situation ? I just redirected my Direct deposit from my job and I make 215k a year and about 16.5k pre tax monthly. I’ve had 2 deposits to my navy so far both 3k every 2 weeks. I want to get back on good terms with navy but I still can’t prequalify for any of their other cards. Anyone been in a similar situation ? If so, were you able to get other cards ? Auto loans etc ?

I’m about to ask for a CLI (on Monday) and I’m looking for ideas to increase not just my approval odds, but whatever amount for which I’d be approved. I’ve seen some claims that they’ll only do increases up to 3X your current limit, but those claims are always immediately denounced by someone approved for even more.

Of course, when looking for NFCU CC approval tricks and tips, I always come across someone claiming that applying in the middle of the night, after midnight or so, increases the odds and numbers. But, even NavyFed has gone so far as to release an ad denying such a “hack” exists.

I have a high utilization rate and I was looking for a credit card to lower my utilization and that brought me to navy federal.

I was active duty now medically retired. Opened this account in 2009 but never used it from 2015 until a few days ago. So I logged in and prequalified and saw all cards available to me. Then I waited until 10 pm mst and applied. I got the please wait 24-48 hours but I got an email when I woke up the next day saying I’m approved (1 am).

$17000! Can’t really believe it but the late night hack works. I applied for other cards but was denied since I’m in the mid 600s for my score.

Glad I never closed this account even though I asked them to close it years ago, it stayed open.

I’ve never been the victim of fraud until today 😢. I have text notifications set to alert me whenever a transfer is made (even from savings-checking and vice versa). I normally keep the bulk of my funds stored in savings and transfer a little at a time as needed into my checking. Today, got a text alert that $4,000 had been transferred from my savings, into my checking. I found that pretty odd seeing as I hadn’t been on the NFCU app today, plus that I didn’t have $4,000 stored in my savings. I opened the app and immediately transfer the funds back. Check “scheduled transactions” and there is a transaction from my checking account, to a Bancorp Bank checking account of $4,000. I also saw them that I had a message from NFCU about them investigating fraudulent activity that I reported (I didn’t report any yet). They had debited me a provision amount of $1,906 while they investigated the “fraud”. I immediately got in touch with NFCU (on hold for an hour and half). During that time the $4,000 was again transferred from my savings into my checking. Again, I transferred it back to savings. Finally was able to talk to the Compromise Dept. they restricted all transactions, and I had to go through the steps of changing all my passwords. Currently on a 60-minute wait time to proceed to the next step. Sorry for the super long post, but I guess I wanted to share that experience with everyone, I had also never heard of a hacker reporting fraud on the account they are currently scamming in order to gain the extra provision funds. The text notifications saved me though.

To my fellow veterans, active duty military and their families. I have received many Navy Federal scam emails lately. They are coming from the Russian Federation. If you receive a message from Navy Federal, go to the Navy Federal website and login.

If you do click a link, look up at the top of the page to see the URL. You will see a URL that isn't Navy Federal. Microsoft emails were hacked by the Russians a few weeks ago.

I have been a loyal customer at Navy Federal for more than 40 years when I joined the Navy. I retired 10 years ago and have continued to bank with Navy Federal, even though there are no branches or ATMs remotely near where I live. For the past seven months, we have been the victim of fraud where a company has been fraudulently charging our account and getting directly payed through our checking account. We have discussed this with Navy Federal multiple times and asked them not to release any funds to this company and yet nearly on a monthly basis we have been debited anywhere from $4000 to $8000 per month by this company. The company seems to get access to my wife’s debit number through a Venmo account. We canceled the Venmo account more than two months ago and yet these recurring payments still go through. We have had to get five new debit cards over the last seven months and now as we called again because another $4000 were taken out of our account in the past two days, we find out that my wife’s account has been suspended and that she can no longer have access to a debit card for the next year. Somehow, they imply that she is irresponsible and the reason why she can no longer use a debit card. We have not given out this most recent debit card number and yet still we are the victims of fraud - no one can tell us how this number is accessible when it’s not being used but the funds are still being debited via Venmo. Despite pleading with Navy Federal multiple times and it being documented by them, there has been no support. We have lost more than $30,000 because of these unauthorized debits and can’t get them back. The solution they offer now without a debit card is either to “write a check“,“use Western Union“, or “use the credit card“. These are all ridiculous solutions in a digital world with no nearby access to a bank branch. Unfortunately, we are now forced to move our banking to another institution. The first woman who tried to help me tonight was very understanding and yet multiple supervisors continued to uphold this decision despite her efforts on our behalf. I spoke with Will, one of the supervisors, and he said he’s the end of the line and then all decisions come down to him and are final.

Sad way to end 40 years of banking with NFCU but that’s where this lack of support leads us. Be forewarned about how you can get treated by this bank.

Anyone else getting an authentication failed message? Not sure if they’re doing maintenance or not.

I’m going on my 5th debit card in less than a year. It’s ridiculous. I even opened a whole new checking account w/ Navy and still have issues. This time they almost took $2K out my account. I loved Navy and never had any issues like this but WTF?! Super annoying and very inconvenient. I’m grateful Navy catches it and I get my money back but 5 in less than a year? Sorry for the rant.

I got hacked 3 weeks ago for 2997.00 Dlls Uber eats, uber, DoorDash, shop, TikTok, Disney plus etc all of them were buying thing online. Some didn’t go tru because I freezed the card. But in shop app hacker bought 3 exercise books each of them 999 Dlls for a total of 2997.00 Dlls My question is how the hell they denied this I don’t even read books, and how tf I’m going to buy the same book 3 times for 1k each. Debit card money of course!!!!!!!! What should I do? They sent me some question to answer, but they already took credit money back:(
