December 23, 2020 - The move looks to limit the penetration of motion upholstery and leather stationary furniture from China and Vietnam into Canada. According to a CBSA announcement of the proceeding’s launch, the Canadian market for such merchandise has been estimated at $675 million annually.

I purchased custom upholstered beds from Palliser Furniture. The upholstery used is flimsy, doesn't hold up, and is not as pictured online or in their catalogue. Since they dont accept returns, they sent out the beds knowing I'll have to take the loss.

May 13, 2021 - In December, the CBSA announced it was launching investigations to determine whether certain upholstered domestic seating from China and Vietnam is being sold at unfair prices in Canada. The investigations were the result of a complaint filed by Winnipeg-based furniture manufacturer Palliser Furniture Ltd.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated investigations on December 21, 2020, under the Special Import Measures Act respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of certain upholstered domestic seating from China and Vietnam. The investigations follows a complaint filed by Palliser Furniture Ltd.

November 11, 2025 - They have dragged their feet for 10 months, refusing to acknowledge that our couch was built defectively. They finally narrowed it down to a part, that was determined to be causing the issues. The repair man sent by Palliser was not an experienced furniture repair man, but rather a surface repairman for countertops, fabric, flooring.

September 1, 2021 - Ottawa, Ontario, September 2, 2021—The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today found that the dumping and subsidizing of certain upholstered domestic seating, originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, have caused injury to the domestic industry. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will therefore be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency. The complainant in this case was Palliser Furniture Ltd., of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The only remedy Palliser has offered is sending us new material for the sofa. Several problems with their solution: we have to pay for the reupholstering; the fabric on ours is no longer available so whatever we pick won’t match the loveseat and recliner; and the probability is high that the fabric on the other pieces won’t last very long either. We certainly expected this furniture to last longer than two years considering it was supposed to be high quality.

That is correct. Mine came from Mexico and the material inside does not stand up. Mine is less than 5 yrs old and the impressions on is looks like I've had it for 20 yrs. Look the other way from the Palliser Company. Go to another company for your leather furniture.
