New sign-ups were removed a while ago, but it looks like existing cardholders are being kicked out as well. Received the following email from PayPal and Concerto today. My credit limit was immediately reduced to $100, and my account will be closed September 23, 2024.
"This letter is to inform you that the PayPal Business Cashback Mastercard is being discontinued and all credit card accounts will be closing. It also is to inform you of additional changes that the creditor is making to the terms of your account, including your credit limit and required minimum payment. Please read this letter carefully as it contains important information about your credit card account and its updated repayment terms.
Effective September 23, 2024, your above-referenced credit card account will be closed. This means that you will not be able to use your credit card account for new transactions after this date. Transactions that are still outstanding as of that date will continue to process, but any new transactions after that date will be declined. Any returns, refunds, or other credits to your credit card account will still be permitted.
Even though your credit card account will be closed to new purchases or advances, you remain obligated to pay the remaining outstanding balance in a timely manner and in accordance with the terms of your existing cardholder agreement in effect at the time of such repayment, subject to the additional changes set forth below.
Specifically, effective September 16, 2024, your new credit limit is $100. You understand that after this date, any transactions that would cause you to exceed your new credit limit may be declined.
Please review the following change to the calculation of your minimum payment amount after the effective date:
Effective October 30, 2024, the way the minimum payment is calculated on your account will be changing. This change will be in effect for your credit card account until your outstanding balance is paid in full.
Minimum Payment:
The minimum payment due for each billing cycle will be the greater of:
$35.00 and
The sum of
Any past due amounts; and
Any fees assessed during the billing cycle; and 1.00% of the account balance as of the last day of the October 2024 billing cycle; and
the applicable periodic rate on your card times the balance on your account as of the October 2024 billing cycle; and
4.00% of any charges posted to your account after October 2024 billing cycle
The minimum payment due will never be more than the outstanding balance on your account. If you pay more than the minimum payment due for a billing cycle but less than the outstanding balance, you are still required to pay the minimum payment due in the next billing cycle.
If your credit card account is subject to an annual fee and you were billed for such a fee less than 12 months ago, you will be refunded the portion of the fee corresponding to the remaining billing cycles covered by your annual fee. Any such refund will be credited to your credit card account. If you have authorized a merchant to automatically charge your credit card account (such as utility companies or internet providers), you are responsible for changing your payment method directly with each merchant If you fail to do so, you understand that such charges may be declined and you may be liable for any fees, charges, or losses you may incur as a result.

If you fail to do so, you understand that such charges may be declined and you may be liable for any fees, charges, or losses you may incur as a result.
A separate email will be sent regarding your Rewards balance.

So my paypal business mastercard was discontinued why is the servicing agent reporting it to my personal and business credit what is going on?!!!!!! Not a late payment but it's messing with my personal credit utilization
The PayPal Business Cashback Mastercard was discontinued as many know. A bummer as that 3% was sweet. I had a balance of around $1,200.00 I was paying down and the card was showing up on the PayPal website. It has disappeared from the app and web site. I have no way to pay the reminder of the card and am really concerned it's going to affect my credit. PayPal hasn't be helpful at all. Any suggestions?

Apparently I have this on my PayPal account but never activated it. It is a debit card, (Mastercard) NOT a credit card. The only fees are for making cash withdrawals through an ATM or bank teller, or making a purchase from a merchant outside the US. It would be accepted anywhere Mastercard is. Obviously this would be of limited use unless you regularly received money to your PayPal account from e.g. selling items on eBay, BUT: You can link a bank account to the card so that it pulls funds from there if your PayPal balance is insufficient to cover the amount of a purchase. And most importantly:
You'll receive unlimited 1.0% cash back on eligible purchases when your PayPal Business Debit Mastercard purchase is completed as a credit transaction by phone, online, or in stores. Transactions eligible for bonus cash back include: credit transactions which you sign for and which are processed by Mastercard.
So apparently I can just use this instead of my bank debit card and get a free 1% cashback on my purchases? I read over the cardholder agreement and didn't see anything concerning; there is a standard daily purchase limit of $3000 but I wouldn't come close to that anyway. Here is the agreement, am I missing anything? https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/debitcard-full
It sounds too good to be true, but if not, it's basically free money compared to using my bank debit card (I'm currently in credit card debt so I don't use credit cards for purchases). So is there something hidden in the fine print that would make it a bad idea to use the PayPal debit card for purchases within the US?
Or is that just me?
I tried to open a Paypal MC in order to have it in time for next year's taxes, but since I have a Paypal business acct (presumably) it's only giving me the option to apply for PP *business* Mastercard. Which says they're not accepting applicants at this time and thanks for my patience. (Am not patient. THEY AINT KNOW ME.)
Anybody else seen this lately? Any way to apply for the personal one if I have a biz PP acct?
Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know PayPal/Synchrony has begun sending out the new PayPal Credit Mastercards this week. They started this program a few months back with their traditional online credit line to create a credit card for it to better compete against Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, etc. It simply takes PayPal’s online credit line that you can use to finance any purchase over $99 (now $149) for 0% APR for 6 months but now allows you to use the BNPL/0% interest feature anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
I don’t use the credit line much. I still have it as a left over from the Comenity days around 2015 when PayPal didn’t report to credit bureaus, also had a no minimum payments for 6 months feature along with no interest for 6 months, and had a lower $99 threshold which this past year was raised to $149. Anyway, Synchrony took over PayPal’s credit portfolio around 2018 and it’s largely been downhill since then. The one interesting thing they’ve done is recently create a credit card for the credit line to use the 0% interest feature more places. IMO, I’m not sure I’d get the credit line these days now that many of the features that made it appealing have since been terminated but since I already have it, I don’t ever plan to close it. It’s a nice option to have if you’re ever in a bind.
Hi Everyone,
I'm confused.
PayPal credit was one of the first things I had applied for years ago. I stopped using it so they eventually took it away.
I have a PayPal MasterCard. when signing out of the account, it says that I am now leaving PayPal Credit.
When I open my PayPal app and go to accounts, it shows as PayPal MasterCard. When I Google the above question, I don't see any references to any changes that have been made.
I am curious to know if anyone has had the same issue? If so, did the payment go through to your PayPal MasterCard or as a PayPal Credit payment?
I already have Citi doublecash but I want the PayPal MC for 3% cashback. Unfortunately it doesn't have any SUB. I also heard a lot of bad things about Paypal and Synchonchy on reddit.
For context I have six cards: Apple Card, discover it, Amex gold, chase freedom flex, chase Amazon prime visa, and the PayPal card
$0 annual fee with 2% cash back everywhere AND 3% cash back when you use PayPal. I use the Apple Card as my default if I can use Apple Pay, but i just moved to a city where Apple Pay is less common and PayPal has been my main method of paying ever since.
I decided to make this post because PayPal notified me today that you can finally add paypal card to apple wallet. That was the one issue I had with the card and it’s been fixed.
People always talk bad about paypal card because of synchrony, but I haven’t had any issues personally. Would love for someone to explain why synchrony is bad.
I cannot for the life of me get this card to consistently work for me using Paypal pay on websites. I have tried Steam, a few online shopping places, and only one transaction in the last 4 transactions has actually used the Credit Card to process payment.
I have the debit card through them as well and it has either charged that, or just went straight to my main bank’s debit card to process the charge. I have the credit card set up as the preferred way to pay, too. Does anyone have any advice on what I am doing wrong?
Wanting to take advantage of PayPal Bill Pay, I got the PayPal CC, but subsequently discovered Bill Pay does NOT exists in PayPal Business accounts. So, I applied for another PP CC in my PayPal Personal account but was denied because I already have one. I've spoken with PP and Synchrony and they are dead set against giving me a second card. By any chance, has anyone figured out a way to get two PayPal Cashback Mastercard credit cards, one for biz, second for personal PP acct?
New article about a new credit card. Not a lot of details: "The new credit card, issued by Synchrony Financial, will launch with a six-month promotion offering no-interest financing for qualifying travel purchases including flights and hotels, according to a statement."
Anybody know more about it? (Paypal 'coming soon' link here)
I relied on this pretty heavily, because it meant I didn’t HAVE to keep a balance in PayPal but could still use my PPBDMC for… everything.
I don’t want to have to maintain a balance at all times in PayPal, they’re not my bank.
All my automatic transactions, shopping in stores, shopping online… My PPBDMC is going to go from 99.9% of everything I use a debit card for to 0%. Ugh.
I guess I have about a month to switch all my automatic charges and bills to my bank debit card.
Really disappointed this pretty big feature is just, poof, eliminated.
What is the easiest way to make payments on the PayPal Mastercard? A few months ago got an email saying my autopay was “canceled by me”, inexplicably, a day after I got an email saying “thank you for your payment!” (I hadn’t logged in at all during that time). That paired with the fact that sometimes PayPal doesn’t use the payment method that I want, means that there’s no real benefit to keeping my bank account connected since they aren’t even going to always do autopay correctly. So is the only other option to call in a a payment? This card has been more work than it’s worth, and talking to their customer service was so frustrating.
So I admit I myself even signed up for the card after all the hype going around after they started letting you get 5% cashback in your selected catagory. But I’ll be honest the more I think about this card the more I’m not sure if it’s actualy good or makes sense and dosent have some risks.
First of all, this card is most likely gonna get nerfed after a bit after they get enough signup because of the fee cap on debit cards and they cant really make money on it. Second, as a debit card you don’t get near the same protections as a credit card. Meaning if I get this number stolen at like a restaurant or something (which is what I would use this for most likely) you don’t have the same detection’s and you gotta fight pay pal to get your money back and it’s more like using your own money then the banks money. I guess you can use it for less fraud heavy categories but still using something that’s a debit card make me feel more at risk of fraud. And part of me ha it wonders of I’d be better off earning in a transferable point currency anyway. (Although I do have cards that are just cashback only and I’m fine with those so this is a minor thing)
So am I over reacting to the card? Am I missing something?
I want to know if having money saved in a PayPal account helps with getting a larger credit limit when applying for the CashBack Mastercard?
I’m interested in applying for it and I’ve been using paypal for 5+ years and have a few thousand dollars saved up in there.
I wouldn’t mind the extra hard inquiry if it means I’ll get a larger starting limit.
Current FICO score: 753
Was recently approved for BOA CCR for $9000 as my recent account.
EDIT: I checked my PayPal app and noticed I had received a targeted offer with a bonus of $50 if I apply by 1/15/24. I should also mention I also have a business account with them which is very active and have received their business debit card a few years ago and have been receiving targeted offers for the business cashback Mastercard.
I just found out about the targeted offers last night. I guess they’ve been sending them but I was ignoring everything that didn’t have to do with my account transactions.
Hello, I recently as of 2025 became a PayPal master card holder. After using the card for the first month, I decided to make my first payment in full to avoid added interest. 3 days later I get on my account to find out I'm negative in my balance . After calling PayPal ( India ) customer service, I was informed that the payment I made in full to my account from my bank was on hold . Normally that's ok for a few days wile banks do the weekend thing . This was different, I was informed that my account was still on a hold for a month to proses my payment . The money that no longer exist in my bank account. The icing on the cake is two weeks later I go to check my account and now I'm being charged for interest on the account even though I made a full payment for the previous month owed. When I called PayPal back a second time I was informed by the Indian PayPal customer service that I can be charged interest even after a statement has been closed. Coming from somebody that owns other credit cards. This is something I've never heard of and it sounds to me like PayPal cares more about putting you in credit card debt. I would highly recommend you do research for any other credit card as I have more than five and this is the first time I've ever heard Of this nonsense when dealing with a credit card.
Targeted offer I haven't seen anywhere else yet I don't think. Very SYW-esque. Even though the card itself earns no points/cashback, if I stay around $75, it's well over 10% back in statement credits. Seems pretty fair and attainable, especially around Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Hi guys, so i'm very new into the credit space. I /very often/ use paypal credit to pay for bills like vendor fees or events we do each year as well as other business related upgrades to our hardware etc.
I like it because I always pay back the amount in 6 months and never pay any interest.
I once had a capitalone card that got me out of a bind one singular time and i didn't use it again and was the canceled. To be frank, i just feel like credit cards have nasty drawbacks made for people like me that don't know the ins and outs and i just don't have the wiggle room to potentially cause hardship on my family.
That said, paypal has this cashback card. I know it's synchrony which people don't like, but does anyone know or understand their "catch"? It's drawbacks?
I honestly struggle with some jargon and can easily misunderstand something when it comes to large texts like the terms on a credit card and figured instead of running that risk, someone here may already know about their terms and might be kind enough to explain it to me. I'm not an unintelligent person i just struggle understanding the puzzle i'm putting together if i don't have all the pieces in front of me.
If you're willing to give me advice, i greatly appreciate it. Seems like it might be a cool card but understanding how it works is very important, of course.
