The friends and family option is missing when I try to send a specific person money. We do send money back and forth a few times a week. We live together, share bills and I use PayPal as a “bank”. All my money goes there. I went to send them money this morning and the option was gone. I was essentially forced to send it as a goods and services payment. I checked on other people who I’ve sent money to before and I’m able to send it to them as a friends and family payment. Can anyone explain what has happened? Have we reached some limit?

So the reason I ask is because it is less clear than I originally thought. It seems they get charged when I choose services etc, but also they've been left out of pocket when I choose friends & family too? All I wanted to do was pay them for something they are posting as a gift. I am quite new with this so what should I choose next time. Is friends and family the right thing to do?

Sender pays the international transfer fee.

• Recipient receives the full amount sent, unless currency conversion is involved.

• Currency conversion fees may apply and affect the amount the recipient ultimately receives.

If I send more to them I may be charged more?
