I feel like the word "clickbait" has become diluted to meaninglessness, so that right now it just means "thing I disagree with." Clickbait is a defined thing! Even if you don't use the actual dictionary definition it has a clear cultural definition. Gamers it seems just use it to diminish anything that doesn't conform to their specific set of opinions. I just went to PC Gamer's homepage, and not a single article there would qualify as clickbait. In the 4 articles I clicked, the headlines for all of them accurately described the contents of the article. I even went to the usual suspects, "best X thing in 2024" and there wasn't a clear favorite brand--the advice actually was good. I strongly disagree with your assessment. So what about them do you consider to be low-integrity or clickbait? Answer from GrandPoobah395 on reddit.com

So I've been on this website recently, and I was wondering people's thoughts on them? My opinion is that integrity is not the name of the game for said click bait site, and was wondering what others thought.

r/Steam on Reddit: Where do you get your gaming news?
July 22, 2024 -

Hey everyone!

I’m curious - where do you all get your gaming news from? Obviously, this subreddit and others are probably at the top of the list, but I’m wondering what other sources you go to, whether it’s YouTube channels or gaming websites.

The reason I ask is that I’ve built a gaming news aggregator site that pulls the latest news updates from a big list of gaming news websites and YouTubers. I want to make sure I’m covering the best and most reliable sources, so I thought I’d ask here if I’m missing any!

So far, I’ve included:

YouTubers:

Gameranx, IGN, Last Stand Media, Kinda Funny, Skill Up, Jake Baldino, colteastwood, Xbox, LevelCapGaming, Spawn Wave, Easy Allies, LtBuzzLitebeer, JorRaptor, Bellular News, Videogamedunkey, LtBuzzLitebeer.

Websites:

VGC, Euro Gamer, VG247, Kotaku, Game Spot, IGN, gamesindustry.biz, Gematsu, Steamdeck HQ, Polygon, Nintendo Life, Rock Paper Shotgun, Video Gamer, PlayStation.Blog, PCGamesN, Push Square, Insider Gaming, MassivelyOP, PC Gamer, Tech Raptor, Pure Xbox, PlayStation Lifestyle, Operation Sports, Pocket Gamer, Niche Gamer, Gameranx, CGMagazine, Gaming Age, TheXboxHub, Press Start, Games Radar, Destructoid, Game Rant, True Achievements, Dexerto,  Reddit and  Reddit.

What other sites or channels do you follow for gaming news? Any hidden gems I should add to the list? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

r/gaming on Reddit: Any concerns about the future of PC Gaming?
June 3, 2025 -

I been gaming exclusively on PC for about a year. Have always played on PC and console.

I thought PC would be the safest eco-system long term. Unsure if Xbox hardware would continue or if it would go away like Sega. Concerned about PlayStation continuing to raise price on hardware, PS+, and games.

Now I'm somewhat concerned about PC. Nvidia 5000 series has had all kind of issues. 9070 for $650+from AMD.

Now talk about Nvidia cutting back on GPU to focus more on AI. Then Microsoft keeps trying to make AI on windows a thing and that might push me to Linux but that's an unknown for me.

I debate about it cause PS5 Pro is on sale (still expensive) but prices on consoles and graphic card could all go up with tariffs in a few months.

As the title says? How do you guys learn new things, rumours, upcoming games or massive patches? I follow some gaming media, like IGN, but I feel like I always am last to find about new things on the horizon. The thing is, I'm a small YouTuber, and while my YT game has grown, and my videos are getting way more views than the average for channels of my size, I feel they could get seen by many more people if i was ahead of the curve posting them...

Hello, i used to read PC Gamer everyday for years, but now i can't anymore, click bait news titles, dsiguised ads, not so disguised ads, articles that looks like a blog post from a teenager etc. i just can't anymore.

Do you have any alternative to this with quality news articles ? Or does the era of decent gaming journalism is dead?

Thank you.

With Reddit killing third party apps on July 1st and the winds of change blowing, I'm sad to admit that I have relied so exclusively on various subreddits for gaming discussion that I no longer know where else to go.

So I figured this might be a decent topic of discussion if its not removed! Interested in what other places people go for gaming discussion and news?
