Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to win 11.

Try run PC health check:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-check-if-your-device-meets-windows-11-system-requirements-after-changing-device-hardware-f3bc0aeb-6884-41a1-ab57-88258df6812b

Run a full system scan using Windows Defender to check malware.

Disable unnecessary startup programs that might be slowing down your system.

Use the Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files and other unnecessary data.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Molly

Hello,

If your Windows 11 system is slow, you can run the following checks:

  1. Use Windows Performance Monitor: Open Run (Win + R) → type perfmon /report → press Enter. This generates a system health report with performance issues.
  2. Check for Corrupt Files: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

       sfc /scannow

If issues are found, follow up with:

       DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    1. Check Resource Usage: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Go to Performance tab to monitor CPU, RAM, and Disk usage. If a specific app is consuming resources, consider updating or disabling it.

If the issue persists, check for Windows updates or reinstall the OS.

Hello,

Our default Windows image is visibly slow on modern hardware with plenty of headroom - meaning that's there's more than 50% RAM, CPU free and we're on new SSDs. I am looking for software and/or methodologies that would allow us to quantify "how slow?" followed by "what's at fault?" . I suspect it's the several endpoint management tools that all have their minifilter drivers.

Once done, it’ll take you to a website with scores for your system’s single and multi-core performance, and scores for various aspects, like file compression, navigation, object detection, HDR, etc. Note down the results found at the top of the page then head to · Geekbench’s Processor Benchmark Chart and enter your processor model (we can show you how to check your PC specs on Windows if you need help) and find it on the page.

August 4, 2025 - If you’ve had your PC for a while or are issued a laptop for work, it can be difficult to gauge whether your PC is up to speed compared to other PCs. But there’s a quick method I use to find this out: the Windows Experience Index score (WEI). The WEI was introduced in Windows Vista. It provided a numerical assessment of a computer’s hardware and software performance on a scale of 1 to 10. While the direct display feature for the WEI was removed in Windows 8.1, the tool still exists in Windows 11, and you can access it the way I’m going to show you below.
