It’s not unusual to see brands use the same mill. Is this not Chinese manufactured? Very few companies have mills, you would be looking at Libeco, Thomas Ferguson, McCaw Allan for those who produce their own linen. Answer from Deleted User on reddit.com

Hi everyone, I have been doing some research on upgrading my bedding (tired teacher here) and think I have narrowed it down to Magic Linen or Piglet in Bed. They both seem to be similarly priced and I have read good things but before I make a purchase does anyone have any last minute suggestions? I have looked at Quince, Citizenry (came really close to a purchase) and Brooklinen.

Thank you in advance.

Piglet in Bed or The Citizenry Linen
August 28, 2022 - I was wondering if anyone has tried linens from both Piglet and The Citizenry and could enlighten me on how they compare. Or do you have experience with at least one of them and could share your thoughts? I am hoping to refresh my bedding and have narrowed my search down to both these companies. I have just ordered swatches from both, but that can really only tell me so much. Thank you in ...

Hey r/BuyItForLife, I am currently in the process of upgrading my bed and have been looking at buying some linen bedsheets. I've never had linen sheets before and am not entirely sure what to look for, and the amount of information/reviews I'm seeing online is overwhelming.

Below are the options I am considering currently:

  1. West Elm - Belgian Flax Linen Sheet Set $250 - https://www.westelm.com/products/belgian-linen-sheet-set-b1692/

  2. Snowe - Linen Sheet Set - $320 - https://snowehome.com/products/linen-sheet-set?variant=12976560210019

  3. Brooklinen - Linen Core Sheet Set - $259 - https://www.brooklinen.com/products/linen-core-sheet-set?variant=12426826350682

  4. Morrow - Classic Sheet Set Heirloom Linen - $275 - https://www.morrowsoftgoods.com/products/classic-sheet-set-heirloom-linen?variant=31564727844925

  5. The Citizenry - Stonewashed Linen Sheet Set - $250 - https://www.the-citizenry.com/products/stonewashed-linen-sheet-sets

  6. Piglet - White Linen Starter Sheet Set (w/flat shet) - $259 - https://us.pigletinbed.com/collections/all-bedding/products/white-linen-starter-sheet-set?variant=31284346224755

  7. Pottery Barn - Belgian Flax Linen Sheet Set - $237 - https://www.potterybarn.com/products/belgian-linen-sheet-set/?pkey=cexclusive-savings&isx=0.0

  8. Lands End - Garment Washed Chambray Linen Sheets - $290 - https://www.landsend.com/products/garment-washed-chambray-linen-sheets/id_332252?attributes=15430,43349,43581,44800

Any advice or reviews on any of the above would be greatly appreciated! I'm also open to any other suggestions in a similar price range ($150-350).

Thank you!!!

Edit: I ended up going with Lenok Linens on Etsy due to their 25k+ positive reviews, wider variety of colors than any other shop I found, and affordable pricing. I've had them for around a month now and they're scratchier than other sheets I've had in the past (bamboo and cotton percale) but I can already feel them slowly getting softer after every wash.

It's too early to say how they'll hold up long term, but so far I'm happy with them and would recommend them to others!

Linen bedding- same product different brands?

Along with the rest of Instagram, I’ve been looking for linen bedding. I liked the striped options offered by PigletInBed, Cultiver and BedThreads so I ordered pillowcases from each to get a sense of quality vs price etc.

Y’all im pretty sure that Piglet ($63) and Cultiver ($83) use the same manufacturer and offer the same product (for at least the stripes) just with different closure stitching.

I wish I knew how to add photos to a post so I could upload proof 🤦‍♀️

r/BuyItForLife on Reddit: quality linen bedding

Hello! I would really like to get some linen bedding. I like the texture and natural look of it and the colors it tends to come in. Everywhere I look seems to say the same things about their linen, but I know there are different qualities and I want to make sure I'm getting something good. There are a lot of etsy shops selling linen bedding. The shops have good reviews and the comments often say the sellers answer all of their questions promptly, so I'm thinking Etsy may be a good place to order just because I can ask about the product. What questions should I ask (and what would be the answers) to make sure I'm getting a good quality?

Whenever I see people discuss bedding, the thread count comes up, but I very rarely see thread count listed on any bedding websites. Does the thread count matter with linen or is that only for cotton sheets? I know nothing! And I'd love your input. Thanks!

Looking at bedding - have got good recommendations for cottons on this sub - so thanks for the comments - now looking at 100% linen.

I've found the following:

Bedfolk

Secret Linen Store

The Linen Works

Any other recommendations? Looking for the best cost to quality ratio. Linen must be grown and made in Europe (three above are France/Belgium grown, and the first 2 are made in Portugal, The Linen Works just says Europe. Soak and Sleep and WestElm are grown in Europe but made in China, so I've disqualified them, however are more affordable if you want to check them out).

I've also heard of recommendations for Eastern European makers on Etsy however I have no reference point for which makers on there are good or not. Any help with these questions is appreciated.

Anybody have piglet in bed linen sheets? I’m tired of buying bed sheets all the time so I’ve been doing some research and on the surface linen sheets seem like the way to go, and Piglet in bed seems really high quality. Has anyone had them for an extended period of time and can speak to their durability/ quality? I found some older posts on the sub about it but sort of inconclusive about the actual brand. Thanks!

I kinda want to buy some linen bed sheets. I heard a lot of good things about piglet in bed 100% linen sheets. I was thinking of maybe getting the whole set. As in the pillow cases, fitted sheet, and duvet cover. But it is a hefty cost. If any of you guys own linen sheets from piglet is it worth the cost. And does it last a long time. Is the fabric good or scratchy.

I personally would not spend that much for prewashed linen. "Prewashed," "stonewashed," and even just "washed" are usually code words that mean the linen has been treated with enzymes or softeners, which damage and weaken the fibers. Piglet in Bed also doesn't disclose the GSM weight of their linen. To me, that's a red flag that they're selling lower quality fabric. High quality linen should be heavyweight and a bit stiff to the touch. It softens naturally with regular use and washing. Lots of low- and mid-tier bedding companies have recently jumped on the linen trend bandwagon, but unfortunately none of them are selling durable, long-lasting products. In general, I wouldn't buy linen fitted sheets or pillowcases because they don't last as long as flat sheets, duvet covers, or shams. Linen fibers are strong because they don't stretch, so friction from your body on the fitted sheet or your head on the pillowcase can wear the fabric down a lot faster than the bedding that doesn't get the same friction. I pair my heavyweight linen flat sheets and shams with more durable (and less expensive) cotton percale fitted sheets and pillowcases.

I have sets by Serena and lily, piglet in bed, and linoto. Serena and lily is the thinnest and a bit scratchy even after a few years of use, piglet in bed is better quality, a bit heavier weight. The sheets were soft after the first few washes but then the pre wash stuff wore off and they got scratchy. Now they are starting to get soft again. They created a lot of lint when first washed and dried. Ironing the pillowcases on high heat made them gentler on our faces. Linoto is the best quality of all of them. They are heavy weight sheets that have just been getting slightly softer after every wash. They feel extremely high quality and are closest to the heavy old timey linen sheets you sometimes find in vintage shops from the early 1900s

I shelled out $400 to buy a duvet cover and pillowcases from Piglet In Bed and it has been so disappointing. I know linen is supposed to be stiffer and not as soft as cotton at first, but I wasn't expecting it to feel like sandpaper on my skin.

For those who have bought Piglet In Bed linen products, do they really get softer over time or will they always feel a bit scratchy? I'm used to using cheap $30 microfiber bedding that has always felt buttery soft on my skin, but was trying to switch to more natural fibers like linen. TIA

Please help me with my current adhd obsession 😅 BEDDING.

I’m upgrading for the first time in my adult life. I need a duvet cover with matching pillow cases, and a fitted sheet. I’ve got a purple hybrid 3, and I have two bumper pillows on the sides for my toddler that sleeps in my bed. For those two reasons, I lean towards a jersey sheet with a lot of stretch, BUT, I am obsessing over moving towards a percale fitted sheet, with a linen or percale duvet cover. Anyone use percale on a purple?

Reasons for wanting linen: I love the cozy undone look. I am drawn to magic linen and piglet’s aesthetic, and they’re in my current budget. However if they’re not great quality for that price point, I’d choose a simple percale cover over those. I do like the feeling of a heavier duvet/ cover, and I know linen has an airy feel.

Should I go for the linen duvet cover? Save $50-$100 and get a plain percale one somewhere? I’m just so undecided which route to go. I just want my bed to feel and look like it’s sophisticated, cozy, and has natural/healthy fibers.

Also - I’m not exactly in a BIFL budget. I know there are some $400+ linen options, maybe in a year or two.

i’m having a hard time picking between the two. i’ve been convinced to buy linen bedding - and i’m willing to spend the $$. I’m just not sure which to go with between the two, or if there’s other less expensive reputable options? I like the colors that piglet in bed offers more and have heard better things about it that quince, but it is definitely more expensive. Is it worth it??
