one of my users had her PC have some minor problems which mainly just needed a latest version of Java and Flash for browser. Today I plugged in my USB stick and the machine rebooted suddenly. Asus has one of those 1200W PSU's that show wattage.

Some softwares like HWmonitor also show wattage numbers but they are not fully accurate because they are in the mercy of getting the voltage and amp information from CPU/GPU which is not always accurate.
If you want to know your true power consumption, get one of those wall watt meters.

It's always been a super niche feature that next to no one uses. I mean if you want to look at the data, it's kind cool. But beyond that there isn't much use to it. Even voltage monitoring in the PSU isn't super useful. You'll have voltage drop through the length of the cable, so even if the PSU tells you exactly 12V, by the time it gets to where it's going through the cable, it'll be different. Fan speed controls are kind of nice for those of us that really like to control noise, and who have a high amount of passive flow going through it already. But most PSUs these days are quiet enough it doesn't really matter all that much. More on reddit.com
