[Solved] Cant start new pc :: Hardware and Operating Systems
New issue with x670E Master
Stuck at post code 15
I think I bricked my motherboard
Reset the CMOS and see if that fixes it. Hard powering off shouldn't hurt the motherboard.
More on reddit.comI rebooted last night for a Windows 10 update and it appears my x670E Master may be bricked. It will boot up to debug code 15 and hang for 30 seconds or so. Then the debug code will go blank and it just sits there forever never progressing. Sometimes it will go back to 15 for 30 seconds but then it always just goes blank and the boot hangs. I have tried CMOS clear, disconnecting almost everything, swapping RAM slots/which stick is in (I don't have a second set of DDR5 to test.) The DRAM light is lit so I am thinking it may be a DDR5 issue but according to the manual 15 is " Pre-memory North-Bridge initialization is started." I never see 2B-2F which is memory initialization.
Anyone else have this issue and figure out a way around it?
Hello! I built my pc not too long ago and I’ve been using it no problem. My motherboard is the Gigabyte Gaming K7 AX370. Yesterday I accidentally pressed the power button and shut it off (I wasn’t doing anything important). When I booted it back on, it wouldn’t start whatsoever, so I switched to BIOS 2 and it worked just fine. This morning I booted it on, and BIOS 2 is doing the same thing. I’m unsure how to properly go about things right now, and could seriously use the help
EDIT: I have a slowmo video of the error code(s)
https://youtu.be/kAzEqMj8IlQ
EDIT 2: just tried running without GPU or RAM, I only get a debug code of 46, and about every 10-15 seconds or so, it looks like it tries to switch BIOS on its own
So I built my PC last Thanksgiving and it has worked flawlessly, untill now. I turned it on, it booted and displayed as normal, but it then froze at the windows 10 password screen. I powered off then powered back on and nothing would display or boot. (Mobo gigabyte ax370 gaming k7) I took out the cmos battery, and I also used the clear cmos button but that didn't do anything. I'm getting debug codes- 90- Phase transfer to BDS (Boot Device Selection) from DXE 14- Reserved 15-Pre-Memory North-Bridge initialization is started 3E- PCH PEI Initialization C0- Reserved Status LED is also on for CPU and momentarily on for DRAM, I've reseated the Ram to no avail. If anyone could please help that'd be greatly appreciated, please ask for any more info or clarification
My brother left for school and upgraded his CPU, leaving me his old one. I have been using a computer that's been mid-low tier since the holiday of 2010, so I upgraded my motherboard to allow me to use the new chip. I hadn't realized that the PSU in my build was incompatible with the new motherboard, so I decided to upgrade on that as well.
My Build:
CPU: Hand-me-down i5 3570k
GPU: My bad-ass Superclocked GTS 450
RAM: Just 2x2GB G.SKill Ripjaw DDR3 1600
Mobo: Went with the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
PSU: Not sure if it matters, but I have this one
The Problem: Whenever I attempt to boot the PC, It powers on for about 5-10s and then shuts down. Repeats until I kill the power. Not enough time to have anything pop up on the monitor. On the motherboard I get an error code of 19 first, then 15. Based on the manual, they both have to do with the memory.
19: Pre-memory South-Bridge initialization is started.
15: Pre-memory North-Bridge initialization is started.
What I've tried: So far I've done everything I can think of. Used a paperclip to ensure it's not necessarily the PSU, I've swapped around between using 1 and 2 sticks of RAM in every possible combination I could think of, unplugged my GPU and HDD, tried taking out and clearing the CMOS Battery, unscrewed the motherboard and re installed it, and flicked the switch for my Bios multiple times.
What I havn't done yet is remove the CPU, which I didn't want to do unless I had to as clearing and reapplying the thermal paste is not on my list of fun activities for the day.
This leads me to assume the memory is at fault, but I am not sure if that's right. I'm regrettably not as knowledgeable as my brother is about building computers, but it seems like the RAM is one of the few things we did right our first build, aside from the fact it's only 2GB. If it is a RAM problem, which I guess (hope?) it is, I need help making sure this doesn't happen again. I'd like 2x8GB DDR3 1600, so I've narrowed it down to RAM 1 and RAM 2, with the only difference being a nice coupon and the different timing ( 9-9-9 vs 9-9-9-24). I'm assuming the timing is a small difference, but I truly don't know what it will do, which is why I'm leaning towards RAM 1. ( I also like the blue over black, but I don't really care that much to worry ) I'm also concerned, as virtually none of the RAM I was looking at was found on the Supported RAM list, which seems fairly limited.
So I come to you, r/buildapc, in hopes you can help solve my problems as well as enlighten me as to what went wrong. I just want to hone my godawful Bronze 3 skills and play some more League..
I'll be on here for the next few hours and will check around every 15-20 minutes unless things pick up, as well as most of the day tomorrow.
EDIT: Off to bed. Will be back around noon tomorrow
