r/FortNiteBR on Reddit: PS5 controller settings for a Fortnite newbie — help a girl not get lost in TikTok advice
2 weeks ago -

Hello, trusty Reddit Fortnite players.

***Stay with me, I’m looking for the best controller settings and I’m getting lost***

I’m fairly new to PS5 (I used to play a lot of PS2 + PS3) so I’m loving this upgraded, 'premium' gaming experience… especially on Fortnite because the graphics are nuts.

Anyway, I’ve become addicted to Fortnite fast. I play twenty-ish solo games a day (maybe i'll win two?!) and I’d say I’m pretty decent for a complete Fortnite newbie (I used to play loads of COD)… however I keep seeing controller settings on TikTok that make me feel like I’m missing out on something.

What I’m confused about is that everyone posts these super specific 'best settings' but never really says if they’re actually meant for:

A) the console you’re on (PS5 vs PC or whatever)
B) what controller you’re using (standard PS5 or other off-brand ones)
C) the Fortnite Chapter / season we’re in (which is another kettle of fish I’m still trying to understand???).

Also, do PC players genuinely have a better experience? e.g. higher frame rate, better visibility, seeing people from further away etc.? Surely not… but if that is true, can you turn off cross-console matches? Or will this take me forever to find a match?

And sorry if these are super basic questions, I’m still learning the ropes and some Fortnite info online is so confusing because the mega Fortnite nerds speak in a different language (and I mean that with the greatest of compliments).

If anyone can point me towards some actually useful setting modifications for someone at my level playing on PS5 , I’d be eternally grateful.

Plus, if any #WLW players want to team up (or just anyone friendly) let's do it.

Ta in advance!

Love from London's new 27-year-old Fortnite hot gamer girl 💅 🎮

Ok. I do hope this helps. I really do. My settings is supposed to be some of the best settings here. So keep that in mind. I do use a normal ps5 controller on my ps5 slim. I play zero build on this current season of fortnite as of chapter 7 season 1. Just copy these settings and you will be good to go for a long time. I van promise you that. Brightness: 100%, color blind all turned off, motion blur turned off, user interface parallax turned on, sounds: hitmarkers set to default, visualize sound effects turned on, voice chat is your preference. Matchmaking region set to your own region instead of auto. Language set to english instead lf auto. Toggle sprint turned on, auto open doors turned off, mantle activation set to hold jump, hurdle activation set to press jump, hold to swap pickup set to off, ads set to while held, mark danger when ads set to on, auto pickup weapons set to off, swap fire buttons for pump and dump set to on, preferred item slots set to on and set to: 1. Shotgun, 2. Smg, 3. Assault rifle, 4. Utility, 5. Consumable item. Auto sort consumables to right set to on, simple build set to on, reset building choice set to on, turbo building set to on, simple efit set to on, disable pre edit option set to on. Auto confirm edits set to both, contextual tips set to off unless you like having tips, turno delete in creative mode set to on, tap to search/interact set to on, low input latency mode set to on, minimum field of view (fov) set to 75 degrees, maximum field of view (fov) set to 105, syncronize my emotes to jam tracks set to on, surpress my emote music to hear jam tracks set to on, hear other players jam tracks set to on, start jam loops at optimal times set to off, record replays set to on, record large team replays set to on, record creative replays set to off since you probably don't play creative maps. Active sleep mode after set to never. Reticle set to on, retical ammo indicator set to on, show spread (first person) set to off, show recoil (first person) set to off, pull reticle set to on, damage numbers set to list, reticle damage feedback set to hit and icons, damage numbers scale set to 125%, hud scale set to either 80% or 100%. Your preference there. Only thing else in hud to turn off is net debug status and (creative) runtime performance status. Other stuff leave turned on. Touch controls, gyro options, gyro aiming multipliers, flick stick, and advanced gyro options keep all of those turned off. Invert controller view turned off, invert aircraft controls turned off, invert fighter controller controls turned off, controller auto run turned off, build immediately (builder pro) turned on, edit hold time set to 0.100 seconds, simple edit hold time set to 0.100 seconds, slide hold time set to 0.150 seconds, reset camera axis set to both, reset camera time set to 0.100 seconds, vibration feature turned off, quick weapon set to custom only, show diamond delay set to 0.00 seconds, toggle behavior set to slot 2 or none, instant toggle set to off, button group set to both. Look sensetivity set to 7 (fast), aim sensetivity (ads) set to 4 (normal). Build mode sensetivity multiplier set to 2.0x, edit mode sensetivity multiplier set to 2.2x. first person mode set to 1.00x. use advanced options set to on. Look horizontal speed set to 40%, look vertical speed set to 40%, turning horizontal boost and turning vertical boost both set to 0%, turning boost ramp time set to 0.00 seconds. Instant boost while building turned off. Ads look horizontal speed set to 8%, ads look vertical speed set to 8%, ads turning horizontal boost and ads turning vertical boost both set to 0%, ads turning boost ramp time set to 0.00 seconds. Scoped speed multiplier set to 0.80x. look dampening time set to 0.00 seconds. Look input curve set to linear. Percision aim assist strength and tracking aim assist strength both set to 100%. Left stick dead zone and right stick deadzone both set to 8%. L2 release and R2 release both set to 25%. Enable adaptive triggers set to off. Use effect for press set to off. Adaptive trigger strength and start positions both set to 0. Accelerate with stick set to on. Steer tank with camera (controller) set to on Controller buttons presets, i use custom but you can also use builder pro or whatever you decide to use.

Some of those questions depend on if you play build or zero build you didnt specify. Platform ultimately doesnt matter too much but PC probably most optimal but as long as you're not playing on nintendo switch or mobile it shouldnt matter too much unless you're at like pro level. People just use standard ps5/xbox controller for aim assist mostly. There might be people who use xbox elite or dual sense edge for the extra buttons/paddles for stuff like building. Settings only matter for quick swapping weapons and dead zone/aim assist strength which should be pretty universal in all the tiktok videos, just look at the average they all do. The chapter/season only matters cause of the loot pool suggest just looking up meta weapons per season on youtube.

As an older player on controller, I understand settings come down to preference etc.

However, are there a couple of things about the settings that need to be kept in mind for someone on controller, who doesn't play claw and is strictly a zero build player needs to keep in mind?

I've noticed a lot of the look sensitivity the pros use is based around builds and flicks to one pump. But surely zero build has a different foundational requirement?

I've tried precision rings, grips etc and nothing really helps the awkward feel of aiming on thumbsticks, plus i'm an inverted player.

I'm currently running at,

30/30 look
8/8 ADS
With 10/10 deadzone.

Some days I laser people and other days with the same settings I'd make a brilliant storm trooper.

I've often just thought of going 4/4 default and taking the good with the bad but I actually want to enjoy the game.

Any ideas or tips?

I'm on ps5, no paddles etc, just standard controller. Just trying to find that sweet spot between ads/hipfire and turning quick enough to identify an enemy position.

Help is much appreciated.

Cheers.

Semi retired gaming dad.

r/TheFinalsAcademy on Reddit: [PS5] Controller settings improvement
March 23, 2025 -

Hello contestants, I would like to ask your advice for changing my controller settings.

I play on PS5 with a standard controller and I am looking to tweak my settings to have quicker but stable aim. I generally play Medium these days, and usually use an iron sights Pike or Famas red dot/coyote. I do also play light but don't main that anymore. Light I would use most weapons as I quite like them all.

I don't want to be able to 360 in 0.05s or anything, but I also don't want to just change random settings bit by bit and it take forever, or change loads and not know which particular setting isn't working.

Could anybody advise on specific settings to have a look at that will help with:

Target tracking at close to medium range? (You know when the enemy is side stepping back and forth)

And...

Moving from aiming at the body to aiming at the head and limit risk of whiffing?

Feel free to eli5 why you recommend the particular setting, I like to understand exactly what it does and why it works.

Thank you kindly.

Honestly, its time to learn gyro aim. It’s weird getting used to it at first but its so worth it. Right now im only using gyro for ADS while I learn but I’m working on going full gyro with flick stick. It’s the only way to compete with PC players.

I had this same question a month ago, and it was difficult to find an answer. I ended up going into the practice range, and drastically changed each visual setting one by one, to determine what it was changing. Once I got the feel of things, I practiced shooting the medium target dummies at the far end of the practice map from 10m, then 20m. This helped further understand the sensitivity settings. I found that 90-94 FOV was nice with AKM or FCAR. 95+ for M60/mini, melee, or shotguns. I prefer a 290 horizontal look speed, 190 vertical look speed, 95-105 Zoom Sensitivity Multiplier. I then practice trying to eliminate the moving medium target dummy from 10-20m with just over half a mag (AKM/FCAR). Once I can do that comfortably, I’ll try these settings on TDM, to see where I need to further edit my settings. The heat of battle will show way more than the range can. I might be crazy, but I find the need to make little settings changes for different maps, character classes, and weapon types. If you don’t have stick drift yet, enjoy it. I have to keep a little aiming deadzone on, though it makes fine-tune changes in mid-range battles a little tougher while fighting recoil and dash lights. I’ll have to look into the gyro as mentioned in other comments.

You’ll want to turn Deadzones down as far as they can go without causing stick drift. The lower it is, the more responsive, but if you have an older controller, you might find the crosshair drifting across the screen if it’s too low.
