Use a dedicated pw manager, 1 random unique pw per service. Bitwarden, keepass, protonpass etc. Activate totp 2fa whenever possible. Ente auth, 2fas, keepass etc. Use a dedicated email alias service, 1 unique address per service. Simplelogin, addy.io, duck.com, firefox relay etc. Basically to clean up your digital opsec.

A few things to consider: - Change your email address for everything. Dedicated emails for different services, for example Gaming, Shopping, Personal, Work, Throwaway. - Change your passwords. Use a password manager like Bitwarden and generate long complex passwords or passphrases. NEVER save passwords in a browser. - Enable 2FA on everything possible. Yes, I know this is obvious but you would be really surprised to know that many people stil don't use 2FA in 2024. This is an obvious recommendation, but stop using the same email address for everything. My friend used to use 1 email address for everything (banking, personal, work, gaming, shopping and random sites). He almost lost everything because of this. Don't be my friend.

If this is something either really stupid or really serious please don't give me shit for not knowing I have no idea about tech stuff. But apparently my email was pwned from the internet archive or sth? I only used the site like once😭. What do I do now? Already changed my email password. Anything else I should do? Emails are pwned all the time. The passwords were hashed so they aren’t readily available. But it’s still good practice to change any passwords that were identical or similar to the one that was breached.

Hello. Check for possible data breach: https://haveibeenpwned.com . Start account recovery where you lost access. Change passwords for all online accounts using an open source password manager. Never reuse the same password. Enable 2FA through a FOSS 2FA app everywhere. Use SMS 2FA where there are no alternatives. Backup codes which are generated when you enable 2FA should be saved safely. Run a full system scan using a reputed antivirus software. If anything is detected hard reset your PC. Don't click any suspicious links. Don't install pirated games and sketchy software. Clear all browsing data 'from all date range' from all browsers in your smartphone, tablet and PC to mitigate session cookie hijacking. Logout all unknown sessions from email security settings. Also check connections to third party apps and games and logout everywhere. Then login again. Cancel all call forwarding by dialing ##002# from your phone dialer. Use an email alias instead of your primary email to login to your social media. If anyone contacts you offering to help for a fee, please do not accept. These are just scammers. Follow good cyber security hygiene and there is no need to worry.

Other than changing my password, what other steps should I take?
It said that I have 1 data breach. What does that even mean? Does that mean that somebody guessed my password and was able to log in to my email and get all sort of info?

What’s the breach it said it was named in? Should give you a description.
It’s from when a company got hacked and grabbed the data. Usually never at fault of your own, change the password you used from that data breach on any account that uses that password, and never use it again
You have to assume some hacker has a giant list of passwords with that on there and will try to login on any site possible
In Cybersecurity, paranoia is your friend.
