How do tax brackets work in Québec?

Separate from the federal brackets, provincial taxes in Québec are calculated using the province’s own tax brackets. Both federal and provincial taxes are calculated based on a progressive tax system, meaning you pay higher rates per dollar if your income is higher.

The amount of taxes your employer(s) deduct from your paycheck is withholding tax. The amount depends on how much income you make. It is typically based on federal and provincial marginal tax rates. You can request that more or less tax be withheld. Quebec marginal tax rate is another term for tax brackets.

My small business will make around 150,000$ this year gross. (Quebec)
You will never work for nothing. If you are incorporated the tax rate on the first $500,000 of income is 12.2% and 26.5% after that. Personally, you are taxed at marginal rates (progressive system). The highest bracket is 53.31%. The idea that someone should “stop working” to avoid taxes is a fallacy. Always strive to make more money even if you have to pay more taxes on that next dollar. High Income Taxes in Quebec, why live here.
I think the vast majority of people living in Quebec do so because they were born there, as with all other provinces. Familiarity and being close to community is generally considered over tax burden. Same reason I’m still in BC. Would love some input from people who disagree with this though. More on reddit.com

I built a tool to calculate and compare income taxes in all provinces and territories in Canada
This is a great tool, thanks for sharing! Some perspective about the higher taxes in Quebec -- it's not that we get that many more services per se (corruption is rampant) but that the lower cost of living REALLY makes a difference here. Housing is the biggie -- at least 30-50% cheaper, especially if you're comparing cities (Montreal vs., say, Toronto). That extra $1,000/year in take-home income won't go very far towards rent. But a lot of other things are cheaper too -- tuition and daycare wer mentioned already, and those are subsidized. Car insurance, thanks to no-fault. Public transit if you live in Montreal. Even cell phone plans are cheaper here. I once ran the numbers in detail for me and calculated I'd need to get something like a 50% (!!!) raise in order to have a comparable standard of living in Toronto to what I enjoy here in Montreal. Tax rate doesn't tell the whole story. More on reddit.com
