I have install radeon-profile, but since it requires root privilages to run I can't autostart it on boot. I tried installing the daemon version, but I have no idea how to properly use it. Help would be very appreciated!
GPU: Vega 56
OS: Manjaro Budgie
You need to install both and configure the daemon to run at startup.
systemctl enable --now radeon-profile-daemon
With that done, you can configure the GUI application to auto-start when you login to your user. Think you may have to enable a configuration option in the application to tell it to use the daemon but can't remember off the top of my head. Google search the project and it should have all the instructions there in its GitHub repo.
sudo crontab -e
append the following:
@reboot radeon-profile-daemon
it will launch daemon as root when system boots, then when you start radeon-profile it will connect to it and hopefully work
Just curious to see what people use to OC their cards? Is there much difference between them, and a reason to use one over the other?
Arch Linux, Linux 5.15.3, mesa 21.2.5
Recently, Radeon Profile hasn't been allowing me to adjust voltages or clock speeds on my RX 590. I can adjust fan curves, but when I attempt to edit the states table, I can't change the values. The frequency will say 0 and will be locked at that value, and the voltage will be some ridiculously high number and be locked at that value. Sometimes, one of the values will be adjustable; sometimes, the frequency will be locked at the number of the state instead of 0 (for instance, if I'm adjusting state 3, the frequency may stick at 3Mhz).
Is there a fix for this or a good alternative to Radeon Profile? I need to underclock my card because it often crashes under load and I've been told it's because it's pulling more power than it's being given, and it runs too hot and takes too much power as it is to add more voltage. I'm willing to do it manually without a graphical front end if absolutely necessary (I wouldn't really have a choice because I can't game for more than 30 minutes before crashing) but would like to be able to view and edit things without getting my hands dirty every time if possible
Recently I installed Pop!_OS. Since I installed the AMD version, I didn't download any driver. But, I wanted to install radeon-profile because the fans went on max RPM while they were probably 60° C. I installed the daemon and the app as described in the Readme.md file. It didn't show any error, but I can't see it in the launcher. I have a Radeon RX 570 8 GB
